A few blogs worth looking at

I've been blogging for over a year now, so even though I feel like an ancient blogger, I'm really still a novice. But a found a couple of blogs made by "rookies" that are definitely worth checking out.

First I want to recommend Beep Beep's blog. She has been blogging since November from Downunder. She digs up lots of interesting stuff that any Atheist or Agnostic will enjoy reading. Mixing current issues, with history and then adding her excellent wit, her blog is one of my favorites. Escapee from the Meme Machine is another blog I like to visit. Lya has been blogging since August, and many of her posts are personal and introspective.

Now for the real rookies.

My Case Against God is a blog that just started this month and is already getting rave reviews amongst some of the most well known Atheists in the blogosphere. Francesthemagnificent is one of those dudes who is noticeably smart and comes at you from left field and so far he has had the affect of not only making me think more but also opening up my eyes even wider. Which is quite a feat, since us Atheists already have our eyes wide open.

And the other rookie, sitting at paltry 99 visitors at the time of this writing is God's Loyal Opposition. The guy who writes this is a student in Bahrain. He just started in March, and I have read his posts so far, and they are hysterical. Plus he has the perspective of living in a Muslim country going for him. I'm sure if he sticks with it, his blog is going to become extremely popular soon.

I knew these two rookies were perceptive when they blogrolled me immediately. It shows how sharp they are. I'll mention a third rookie, the Recovering Ortho Jew, who has the potential to debunk the entire Old Testament if he keeps going along his sordid path. He scared me recently when he said he reverted back to a believer for Purim.

Ok, so here we have it, a rookie poster who is smarter than me, and another who is funnier than me. At least I still have my good looks..... Alright, I can admit I'm not the best, I have that going for me, my humility that is. And besides, the dumbest Atheist is smarter than the most intelligent Fundy. In fact my Border Collie Daisy is as smart as the average Fundy. Anyways, I'm OK, I have my niche.

PRAYER DOESN'T WORK, OR IS GOD JUST HAVING ANOTHER SNOOZE

Dang nabbit, those pesky scientists keep trying to find evidence that God exists, and can never find a gosh darn thing.

Distant prayer has no effect on patients

'BOSTON, March 30 (UPI) -- A U.S. study of heart bypass patients finds that distant prayer had no measurable effect on their recovery.

In the study, 1,800 patients having surgery at six hospitals were divided into three groups. One group was told they would be prayed for, while the other two were told they might be, The Washington Post reported.

Groups of Catholics and Protestants were recruited to pray for the group of patients who had been told they would be the beneficiaries of prayers and for one of the other groups, mentioning the patients specifically by first name and last initial. There was no measurable difference between the groups who were not sure, while the patients who knew they were prayer targets had a slightly higher complication rate.

The study was published in the American Heart Journal.'
******************************
Those who knew they were being prayed for had a higher incidence of complications. Was the pressure of knowing they were being prayed for hard on the heart? Did they scoff and the treatment knowing that they had cheerleaders praying for them? Why would God let this happen at a time when more and more people are doubting him, and some are even laughing their asses off at him, and his flock of believers?

Maybe God doesn't do heart disease.
Maybe the John Templeton Foundation can spend another 2.4 million dollars to see if prayer to God can make amputees grow back limbs. I'd be betting on a zero % growth rate, and I'm sure even the most hardcore Fundies would be expecting that too. But if God is up there, he should be able to make at least one limb grow back. C'mon, it's God. God can do anything.......................if he existed.

How the study was performed.

Thanks to Rubin for the heads up. I'll also give credit to those who posted this story ahead of me: SerandEz, Tammy Bruce, NoGodBlog,
and Boing Boing who adds "maybe they were praying to the wrong God."

JEW WORLD DOMINATION: WHO'S NUMBER ONE?

Who? Who? Who?

http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?FORM=TOOLBR&q=jew%20world%20domination

Somebody found my site yesterday doing an MSN search for "jew world domination." And my blog appeared as the number one match. Now I know I'm being monitored by him, so I have to watch my step, since my secret is out.

I'm not in the top 10 for the Yahoo or Google search of "jew world domination" yet, but I figure if I type jew world domination a few times I will climb up in those respective search engines. Oh what the heck, jew world domination, like Brittney say, oops I did it again.

For now on, I will have to use a different code when sending my secret cryptic messages to Organized Jewry Headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Proud to be a Canadian: We Don't Support Terrorists

"Canada said Wednesday it was suspending assistance to the Palestinian Authority because the new Hamas-led government refuses to renounce violence and recognize Israel. Hamas responded that Ottawa's decision was hasty and unfair."

Of course the whiney pathetic Palestinians are going to cry like babies. They always do. They always make the wrong choice. They voted Hamas, they might as well voted in Al Qaeda. They were given fair warning that the West does not support TERROR.

This makes me really proud and happy: "CANADA has become the first state to announce a boycott of the new Hamas administration, announcing an end to diplomatic contacts and a freeze on annual aid worth $A29.5 million."

Cutting diplomatic ties to terrorists and not giving them aid is a no brainer. Yet the Far Left Libs (I smell skunk just typing that) and many Arabs will cry "but they are a democracy." Sorry, it may have been a democratic vote (the terrorist lovers spoke), but the result is a tyrannical leadership bent on the destruction of a civilized state. An entity with such a goal, is NO DEMOCRACY.

MORE PROOF THAT FUNDIES ARE RETARDED/DISHONEST

I'm still having fun making a mockery out of Fundies on Vox's comment board. They are so easy to humiliate, but I don't even think they realize it.

Here is a conversation with Vox's wife Spacebunny. It reminds me of a Monty Python skit. She is a typical retareded/dishonest Fundy. The premise is that these imbeciles say that morality stems from the word of God and isn't relative. I said Atheists have morality just like anyone else. Morality is based on sympathy, not the word of God. I'm asking her for HER definition of morality and to give me some examples.

I find it extremely amusing how those who claim to be "just as moral" as Christians are the ones frothing at the mouth and swearing. Very convincing boys.
Spacebunny | 03.29.06 - 10:18 am | #

Spacebunny, in your own words define morality and give examples of it. No real answer expected.

Oh and you mocking me is like a Down's child mocking Einstein.

Your lack of understanding and intelligence doesn't surprise me. Vox is pretty smart, and opposites do attract. My wife is limited intellectually too.
The Atheist Jew | Homepage | 03.29.06 - 11:19 am | #

I already defined morality for you.
Spacebunny | 03.29.06 - 11:50 am | #

My point is and always has been not about the definition of morality but what you base yours on. Evolution - dismissed several times here and other places. Your own sympathies?! Please, that moral relativism which IIRC you said you were not a moral relativist. Your arguments (if one can call them that) have been nothing but red herrings, straw men and ad hominens. Very convincing. I shall change my thinking at once.
Spacebunny | 03.29.06 - 11:55 am | #

Spacebunny you dodged my question again as expected.

I don't remember seeing your definition or examples.

Lets see them, or did you forget what you supposedly wrote?

Thanks for proving me right.
The Atheist Jew | Homepage | 03.29.06 - 12:05 pm | #

You only recently asked for my personal definition after I gave you what you originally asked for which was a definition of morality. How do you know that I don't go by the dictionary definition? I don't play the game of moving goal posts you seem to be so fond of.
Spacebunny | 03.29.06 - 12:07 pm | #

Answer my question Spacebunny. What is morality and give me a few examples.

You can cut and paste the answer you supposedly gave, because I saw nothing out from your own words.
The Atheist Jew | Homepage | 03.29.06 - 12:08 pm | #

I don't know how you define morality because you won't answer me directly.
I am asking for examples. Lets hear them.
The Atheist Jew | Homepage | 03.29.06 - 12:09 pm | #

You rode the little yellow bus to school didn't you?
Spacebunny | 03.29.06 - 12:13 pm | #

Wow, another insult but still no answer.

LMAOAY

What is your definition of morality and give me some examples?
The Atheist Jew | Homepage | 03.29.06 - 12:15 pm | #

I gave you my definition, like I said, I don't play the game of moving goal posts like you seem to enjoy so much. Nor the cherry picking you are so fond of doing yourself, but accuse everyone else of doing.
Spacebunny | 03.29.06 - 12:15 pm | #

Give me the defintion again please and give me examples. Lets pretend you didn't give me the answer previously because I don't recall you doing so.

It is obvious that you are purposely not answering the question. It leads me to believe that you don't have a definiton of morality nor can you give examples.

It makes me lead to believe I am debating with someone who is either completely dishonest or someone with severe brain damage.

I knew you wouldn't answer me. How did I know that? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
The Atheist Jew | Homepage | 03.29.06 - 12:20 pm | #

Wow, another insult but still no answer.

This from the guy who took more than 200 posts to answer a question (and he got it wrong) but who has had an insult directed towards me or some other poster in practically every post he's written. I guess you really do live in your own little world of moral relativism. How very shocking.
Spacebunny | 03.29.06 - 12:21 pm | #

Give me the defintion again please and give me examples. Lets pretend you didn't give me the answer previously because I don't recall you doing so.

It is obvious that you are purposely not answering the question. It leads me to believe that you don't have a definiton of morality nor can you give examples.

Unlike you I don't play the game of "Let's pretend" if you can't keep up with the discussion (no surprise there) or can't be bothered to go back and find it, why on earth should I do it for you?
Spacebunny | 03.29.06 - 12:23 pm | #

Spacebunny you don't have to go back since you don't move the goalposts. Just answer the question again. One more time, and I promise not to ask again.

What is your definition of morality and give me some examples?

No honest answer expected, only insults.
The Atheist Jew | Homepage | 03.29.06 - 12:26 pm | #

Looks like I snared one with my Fundy trap at least.

BEAJ:Answer me one question. Do Catholics and Baptists share the same EXACT moral beliefs?

FUNDY LARRY: Of course not. Why should they, while informed by grace and divine revelation, there is still room for human freedom in the interpretation and application. God is not a tyrant, and our knowledge of him is necessarily incomplete.
*******************************
BEAJ: Thank you for admitting that MORALITY IS RELATIVE.

The Atheist Jew | Homepage | 03.29.06 - 12:47 pm | #

Larry will spin my answer, but it doesn't matter, I won.

Spirit in the Sky by Gareth Gates and The Kumars

This is just one song that I never had a problem with when it came to saying the word "Jesus" out loud while not cursing.

OK, I never heard of Gareth Gates before, but it turns out he was a contestant in Britain's talent show Pop Idol in 2002, and was subsequently signed up by Simon Cowell's record label. This version of Spirit in the Sky (for Comic Relief) climbed to number one on the charts in 2003 for a couple of weeks. It was his 4th number one on the UK charts. Wow, where have I been?

The Kumars(at 42), is a UK talk show hosted by a fictional Indian family. Again, I never heard of it until today.

Spirit of the Sky was written by Norman Greenbaum, a Jew. It came out in 1970 and made it to Number One. According to Wikipedia "The lyrics' ambiguous interpretation of Christian doctrine can be attributed to the fact that Norman Greenbaum was Jewish, not Christian; the song was never intended to proselytize for Christianity (or indeed for Judaism or any other religious group), but was a send-up of what he perceived as naïveté on the part of religious people in general.
Fundies are the most naive people on this planet. And talk about ambigious. Their "Word of God" has so many interpretations, that if you ask 5 Fundies about what is immoral and what is heaven and you'll get 3 different answers for each question and 2 shrugs.

Part of Norman Greenbaum's version plays automatically at the song's website.

From an interview with Greenbaum: "his parents were quite shocked when they heard their son singing a song about Jesus on the radio. However, when it climbed to the tops of the charts they asked “got any more?”.

I GOT REJECTED BY THE BLASPHEMY RING

Here is the descripiton of the Blasphemy Ring(Bedlam Web Group):
Welcome to the Blasphemy Ring. These sites are generally irreverent, blasphemous, and usually anti-religious. This can be in any form from general religion bashing to Bible-debunking to Jesus jokes, it really doesn't matter! Seeing sites like these makes baby Jesus cry. Note: this is not a ring for Marilyn Manson sites.
*****************************************************************************
Here is the response I got from the Webmaster of that Ring:
"I am curious. Do you refer to yourself as a 'Jew' in a religious or a racial context? I do not pretend to be an expert on race, religion or semantics, but I have noticed that even a fair number of Jewish people seem to be unsure of the 'race or religion' angle.

Secondly, what is the significance of your use of the expression 'Bacon Eating...'? I can understand why anybody might consider dietary restrictions introduced to avoid problems in a desert climate to be rather redundant - especially if you happen to be living in a western country and in possession of a refrigerator - but does that justify using the 'Bacon Eating...' label if the intention is just to be offensive to people who do observe the traditional restrictions of their race/religion?

Personally, as a vegan, I find the notion of eating any animal offensive for entirely different reasons.

You applied to The Blasphemy Ring - a community that ideally promotes sites which question the very basis of organised religions and religious dogmas. So far you have offered a few thoughts about the value of Christmas as a 'Happy Holiday' that is barely touched by Christian concepts, you have somewhat ambiguously poked fun at Kosher Laws and made references to anti-semites, Marxists and the presence of a Jewish jockey in an Islamic country. I seriously doubt if this material is searching enough to genuinely fit the theme of our ring.

Just a thought: If I was Jewish (by religion or ethnicity) and applying to the Blasphemy Ring, I would probably want to use my background to help me discuss some of the undeniably scary statements made in the Talmud and other texts. I would not be looking for gags about bacon or pondering the reasoning of the Arabian horse racing fraternity.

I'd welcome your thoughts about the potential directions of your site. It does not appear to be 'blasphemous' enough for the Blasphemy Ring and (in all honesty) I am concerned about any material which potentially divides human beings."
******************************************************************************

I don't have my response unfortunately, but I was pissed off by his tone. Read the last paragraph. My blog isn't blasphemous enough, yet he is also concerned by material that is offensive to certain people. I did answer his questions though and I questioned how he didn't find me blasphemous, especially with my Bacon and God cartoon.
***************************************************************************
His next reply:

"Well, thank you for your deeply unpleasant communication. The last time I received an e-mail as uncivil as that, it came from a neo-nazi skinhead who couldn't believe that I had rejected his "Aryan Humour" site.

It was not my intention to 'piss you off', I took an interest in your pages and asked some questions based on genuine curiosity about your intentions. However, it is not hard to see that you avoided my queries because you didn't like any of the possible answers.

Are you incapable of defining yourself without recourse to meaningless rhetoric? I asked if you considered youself a 'Jew' in the context of race or religion - I asked that question because, after viewing your website, it struck me that you are unsure of your own identity and too willing to simplistically define yourself merely in relationship to the people and things you hate.

Since you are a self-proclaimed aetheist, it seemed logical that, without any religious foundations, you might wish to base your 'Jewishness' on race or ethnicity. But, you could only respond with a baseless spiel. Could it be that your ancestors were not native to the Holy Land and that is a touchy subject? I can only guess because your answer was devoid of information. I really do not wish to offend you or waste time with needlessly cutting remarks; my point is this: The Jewish culture has one main unifying aspect - its religion. Many people who consider themselves to be Jews are not able to claim genuine Middle-Eastern ancestry - if I was being pedantic, I could add that most of the 'Jews' who complain about anti-semitism are not even semites...but let's not open that can of worms. I unswervingly believe that racial hatred is wrong regardless of how it is labelled.

Believe it or not, this online community has serious biblical scholars who are not afraid of tackling controversial issues. If you are scared to prise out the superstitions and inconsistencies in the Talmud or to ask if the present population of Israel has any real right to the land they occupy, those genuine researchers and investigators are not. As mature adults, they can consider such matters without finding it necesary to hate anybody and without seeking to justify themselves by pretending that people from other ethnic or social groups hate them.

You are quite wrong to suggest that I merely glanced at your site. Sadly, I viewed more than your first page. In point of fact, I took the time to look at your site in some detail. I found it to be unoriginal, 'unblasphemous' and (the worst crime of all) unfunny. You are entitled to hold a contrary opinion - this is a democracy and I won't lose any sleep if you prefer Seinfeld to the Marx Brothers.

Incidentally, you should not expect a vegan to die laughing at a cartoon which features a slice from an animal corpse as its main character.

I summarised your latest entries because they generally had one thing in common - a tacitly belligerent and self-serving assumption that people hate you for your ethnicity/religion. If you regularly go around insulting folks who invite you to explain your website, it isn't very hard to guess why you feel so isolated.

I was deeply disturbed by your statement that you 'mock' the Islamic religion and the efforts of soldiers, sailors and airmen who are serving overseas. As a former paratrooper, I cannot think of anything more saddening to those brave men and women in uniform than mean-spirited mockery from unsympathetic people at home.

This ring promotes the sane, lucid and scholarly discussion of organised religion and religious beliefs - it is NOT an excuse for people to parade their prejudices and hatreds in public. Personally, I believe that hating anybody on the grounds of race, creed or colour is a betrayal of our best human qualities - I simply see people as people (regardless of their origins) and I don't choose my friends or colleagues because they conform to certain ethnic or religious stereotypes.

I asked you to explain your intentions so that I could do my best to see how you might fit into this ring. You responded with harsh words and it seems that we must agree to disagree. I wish you well and hope that you find out who you really are in the fullness of time.
********************************************************************
Lots of baseless assumptions. I said in my first reply that I go after Islam and the War on Terror on my site. I probably worded it wrong. I am obviously pro War on Terror. He obviously didn't read my site as much as he said he did. What an assumptive anal retentive hypocrite he is. He says he is offended by my Bacon character because he is a Vegan. He should really read the description of the Blasphemy Ring over again. He just doesn't get it.
**************************************************************************
Next came my rejection:
Your site submission to The Blasphemy Ring has been denied. system email Sent: 03/26/2006 23:50:17
The web site you submitted to The Blasphemy Ring Ring has been denied due to the reasons cited below by the RingMaster.
****************************************************************************
My last reply:

"You are obviously taking this webring thing way too seriously. I can't believe you are offended by a piece of bacon as a character because you are a vegan. You must have thin skin, yet the title of your ring automatically is offensive to many believers I believe.

I'm aware that many scholarly sites that rip the OT and NT are on the web, in fact many have me on their blogroll and many leave messages on my site.

You have to be anal not to find my site funny. Many people feel it is funny. And many people consider my site completely blasphemous.

I would ask you to let someone else give you a second opinion about my blog. You are too anal. And don't worry, if you change your mind, I wouldn't become a member no anyways. I am going to write a blog entry about this experience because I find your opinion and assumptions about me laughable. And so will my readers. I get 300 hits a day these days.

As far as me being a Jew. My father is of middle eastern descent and I have a very biblical surname. Everyone who knows me, knows I know who I am.
I grew up secular so I am not a bible scholar. The heading of my blog explains what a Jew is. You said you are no expert on race, religion, or semantics. I explained what a Jew is. I defined myself. My blog heading defines who I am.
I found it offensive that you were telling me what I should focus on in MY blog.
The fact that you don't find much of material funny means you have issues. If you find that insulting. Too bad.

Where do I mock soldiers? You are making stuff up now. I mock radical Islam.

I honestly don't think you are very bright. I don't need to explain the contents of my blog to anyone, most people get it.
Where do you get the idea I feel isololated???
My blog is simple to understand. The views of the world from the eyes of a mostly sarcastic Atheist Jew.
What is so hard about that to grasp?"

Just Letting Off Some Steam

I'm starting to picture Fundies as Down Syndrome children, no offense to Down Syndrome children.
Just got back from leaving a comment at Vox's blog. These borderline retards are going on about morality. Many of them say that Atheists can't have morals, some say God gave us morals, but mostly they say that Atheists are most likely to become "animals."

Here is my latest rant comment:

There aren't too many Atheists on death row. Only believers. What does that tell you about morality? The jails are full of believers not Atheists.

Oh yeah, you are gonna tell me that Atheists are so smart we rarely get caught.

You people with your morality discussion are full of it. Christians who are supposed to love thy neighbour hate Atheists. How immoral is that?

Morals are man made. Some of you mention a moral code, but you can't even define what the moral code is.

Talk about rhetoric. Apes are more moral than most Christians. They don't live a lie.

The Atheist Jew | Homepage | 03.27.06 - 10:35 pm | #

These Godidiots think that humans have a special moral code but can't define it. They think that because Christians have a moral code and Atheists do not, that Christians know they can repent so they are allowed to be immoral or something like that. They don't know. You ask 4 Fundies about evolution or morality and you get 4 different answers, all interpretations of people who stopped rationally thinking when they hit puberty. They probably think that the Preacher's wife who murdered her husband just had an Atheist moment.

The scary thing is that they are breeding, and then homeschooling their poor kids. They are dumbing down America. It should be criminal for them to teach. Take science, because they are so weak minded, they accept what their Preacher says over what scientists say when it comes to scientific discovery. This is done for egotistical reasons and to Keep It Simple Stupid(Can't stray too far off that Holy Book or you won't know what's up or down).

They are dishonest too. Pretending that they have the background to argue evolution or an ancient earth. I wish they would just be honest. They should say, they don't know enough about evolution, and they don't want to know enough about evolution because they don't want to accept the fact that man has evolved, and God didn't create man like their good book written by many men says. Ask a Fundy for a peer reviewed scientific study that refutes evolution and get a smart answer or watch him run and hide like a little girl.

Do they know they are being dishonest or are they just completely clueless, or is it a combination of the two?

Fundy Blogger Tries To Explain Why Americans Hate Atheists

I'm not American, but I just can't see American Atheists being different than me.
Vox Popoli states the following in his very popular blog, why Americans hate Atheists:

1. We want to ban Christmas

2. We assume we are more educated and intelligent that believers.

3. We have a murderous track record.

4. We constantly bring up Hitler's Christianity, the Crusades, and/or the Spanish Inquisition.

5. We proselytize almost as much as Jehovah Witnesses.

6. We can't explain how we can be moral because we don't believe in God, and we have no problem lying because we are never going to have to account for it.

Now let me attempt to address these points.

1. Personally I have no problem with Christmas. It is the one time of year when many Christians act like Christians are supposed to act. It gives them a chance to visit friends and relatives. It is a cultural philosophy. In fact, Christ or God is rarely mentioned. Christmas is fine with me. In secular schools it should more emphasis should be put on Happy Holidays, because it isn't right that non Christians be overly exposed to Christian beliefs. But that is just logical. Private schools can do whatever the hell they want.

2. We don't just assume we are on average more intelligent and educated. It is a fact. I can dig up numbers, but since those numbers aren't found in the Bible, Fundies won't believe me anyways.

3. Russia for example, is only made of 20% Atheists/Agnostics. Contrary to what people perceive. The leaders of the Russian Revolution may have been mainly Atheist, but lets not blame Atheism. It was a secular government, just like China has right now. Yet in China, though most of the state doesn't belong to an organized religion, most of those individuals do in fact believe in a higher power and superstition. Denmark and Sweden today have very high Atheist percentages, but they are hardly murderous. And many wars were fought over God in history by believers, so our murderous track record is just a blip.

4. I only bring up these things when I'm dealing with anti-semites or comparing Marxism with Christianity. Rarely if ever. And I am never the first to bring it up.

5. When was the last time an Atheist knocked on your door to tell you that you were a fool for believing in God?

6. Morality is man made. In fact it has evolutionary roots. If it wasn't for morality, humans wouldn't have died out with the Neanderthals. If you steal from neighbours, continuously murder and behave like an anarchist, your chances of surviving is next to zero. You likely won't live long enough to procreate. Morality is innate in most mammals. The 10 Commandments were written by man for man. The NT was written by many men who imposed their own set of values. Morality is also subjective from one culture to another and even one person to another. I have seen Church going Christians rationalize theft to me. As far as lying goes, I find most Atheists to be completely honest and open with less to hide than believers. Maybe it has to do with us knowing that this is our only life and we might as well be as real as possible. Believers tend to worry what others will think of them.

Personally, I think the reason believers don't like Atheists, is that they fear we are right. Deep down they know that the Bible has some pretty far fetched stories like the Ark, and we remind them of that, while throwing facts like evolution and an ancient earth in their face. I doubt many people who believe in God, evolution and an ancient earth hate us or mistrust us, it is just the Fundy flock that might.

Thanks Fundy Bane for the head's up:)

This was the easiest online quiz I ever took

You Should Be a Joke Writer

You're totally hilarious, and you can find the humor in any situation.
Whether you're spouting off zingers, comebacks, or jokes about life...
You usually can keep a crowd laughing, and you have plenty of material.
You have the makings of a great comedian - or comedic writer.

I just wish they wouldn't use the picture of a chick on top of the description. It is kind of making me feel queazy. Wait, that is just the greasy sausage I just ate. I still don't like the picture though.

JEWISH JOCKEY WINS $2 MILLION DUBAI GOLDEN SHAHEEN

David Cohen, a 21 year old Jewish American jockey won the 6 furlong sprint race today during Dubai World Cup day, aboard a 4 year old colt named Proud Tower Too. The purse to the winning horse was $1.2 million(US), and the jockey gets 10% of that. A cool $120,000 for just over one minute. Some lawyers don't even make that much.

The race went off at around 7 PM Saturday (Dubai time), which means it happened after the Sabbath ended:)

I often wondered if Dubai had any restrictions on Jewish owners, trainers or jockeys when it came to their big day in horse racing.

It is too bad that Proud Tower Too wasn't named after anything to do with terrorism.
He was named after his full brother Proud Tower, who was winning races prior to 9/11.

Low Atheism Numbers in the USA: Doesn't Make Sense

I like to look at statistics. Then I like to figure out why these statistics happen.
One of the most mind bogglings stats out there, is the low percentage of Atheists/Agnostics that live in the USA.
Compared to many other countries, the USA has excellent schools, a low poverty rate, and a mainstream media that tends to shy away from the Church. They even have a "separation of Church and State." But a study by Phil Zuckerman shows determines that only 3-9% of Americans are Atheist or Agnostic. Zuckerman, who analyzed many polls and surveys to come up with his worldwide numbers, places America 44th out of fifty countries containing the largest percentage of people who identify as Atheist, Agnostic, or non-believer in god.
For example, 44-85% (depending on the poll) of Swedes are Atheist/Agnostic. 81% of the Vietnamese, 64% of the Japanese, 43-54% of the French, over 31% of the British, 15-34% of Israelis, 19-30% of us Canucks (ranked 20), and 20% of Ukrainians don't believe in God or Agnostic.
In fact, most of the countries that rank lower than the USA are Muslim states(1-5%) and/or 3rd world states. Mexico is 2-7%, very similar to the USA, yet the number is between 18 and 24% in Spain. Poland and Romania have a very low percentage of Atheists/Agnostics, as does Ireland, and I wonder why the huge difference between England and Ireland.
Even in Italy, 14% of their population don't believe in God, similar to Greece at 16%. And let's not forget the Danish who hang between 43-80%.

One general theory in Zuckerman's piece: "comes from Norris and Inglehart (2004), who argue that in societies characterized by plentiful food distribution, excellent public healthcare, and widely accessible housing, religiosity wanes. Conversely, in societies where food and shelter are scarce and life is generally less secure, religious belief is strong. This is not a new theory (Thrower, 1999). For example, Karl Marx (1843) argued that people who suffer in oppressive social conditions are apt to turn to religion for comfort. Sigmund Freud’s (1927) central thesis was that belief in God served to comfort humans in the face of earthly pain, suffering, and death."

Of course, this doesn't explain the USA, Ireland or conversely Korea. To continue, "countries containing high percentages of non-believers are among the most healthy and wealthy nations on earth."

I just don't get the States. They are removed from the Biblical Lands traditionally and physically more than almost every country in Asia and Europe, yet have such a low rate of Atheists and high rate of believers, and worse yet, bible literalists (the fools of fools). The USA foundations may be the cause. They didn't persecute the religious, no matter what the Mormons, for example, thought. And then the USA Baptists pretty much took the Fundy invention of the Rapture in the 1800's, and ran with it, and made it their own.

I was weaned on American TV. I don't remember seeing Beaver, Fred, Barney, Samantha, Gilligan, Agent 86, Greg Brady, Danny Partridge, Batman or Herman Munster ever talk about god or go to Church. There was David and Goliath, but it was so tame that my father even let me watch it. Granted, for the last 17 years, Homer Simpson has been going to Church a lot, but I think he has created more Atheists. Obviously not that many though.

The USA still has up to 26 million Atheist/Agnostics. The scary thing is that according to a recent study, Atheists are the least trusted minority group in the USA.

Where does this crapola come from?: The article about the study.

From the study: “Our findings seem to rest on a view of atheists as self-interested individuals who are not concerned with the common good.”

One more reason to stay in Canada.

Updated Reason: DoctorBoogaloosLunchcounter gives a pretty decent explanation in the comment section. He theorizes that America felt indebted to god for winning WW2. Then of course the Cold War happened and the godless communists were the enemy. Canada and England weren't major factors in the Cold War, so this might explain why the USA has relatively less Atheists than those countries. And then to top it off, the Pledge of Allegiance became the motto in the USA in the mid 50's. "One nation under god," and buying gobblygook.

Funny : It's still "A-OK" to hate an atheist!

PORT'S DEAL DONE: ANYONE WITH SECOND THOUGHTS, READ THIS

Avenging Apostate, a contributor on the Pedestrian Infidel site wrote this eye opening piece on the UAE. He states, "I would safely estimate that 99% of the UAE’s population is strongly anti American. The same also can be said for Pakistan."

Avenging Apostate just isn't anyone. A former Muslim, he is a student who lives in the UAE. The article is a must read for anyone who is on the fence about the Port's Deal, and anyone who has a liberal attitude towards Islam.

On a side note. I have had discussions with Muslims before, and I get mixed reaction about whether a Muslim is a Muslim for life by birth, like a Jew or Druze is. Someone said that anyone born to a Muslim father is considered a Muslim, no matter what he or she believes. Therefore you can have an Atheist Muslim or a Christian Muslim. However, another person told me that it goes by belief: a Muslim must believe in Allah and follow the Koran.
If it does indeed go by the Muslim father, conceivably someone can be a Muslim Jew, or Jewish Muslim for life, if their dad is a Muslim and their mother is a Jew.

Bacon and God: The Bible Finally Got Something Right

The Theory of Inflation destroys one of the common skeptic arguments that questions how god could create light(one Day one) without creating stars first (that happened on Day 4 according to Genesis). Not to worry, we still have boatloads of arguments and mounds and mounds of evidence that disproves much of the bible(s), so I'm not sweating this one.

I'm just a layman when it comes to physics, so thinking about the repercussions here really do hurt my head after a few minutes. Everything came from the explosion of a marble like object? This makes me wonder what happened the second before the universe expanded? Did energy create all the matter in the universe? In the first fraction of a trillionth of a trillionth second how fast did the marble explode? Was the speed of light relative to the marble or were laws of physics as we know them today null and void before this happened? And if it happened once, is it happening elsewhere in other universes? Do I have a clue what I'm talking about?

OK, my head hurts. Time to play frisbee with Daisy.

I guess this is too offensive for 45% of America. You know who you are.

Todays Question: Does an Atheist have to believe in evolution?

I say yes. If you say the Atheist may not have an opinion, I would then ask: Do you believe man started off on earth as man?

CREATION SCIENCE GEOLOGIC TIME SCALE

A Creation "Science" Geologic Time Scale
(1) 4000 B.C. Creation Week: (laws of science suspended)

Day 1 - Space, light & dark, earth materials.
Day 2 - Waters above and waters below.
Day 3 - Earth's crust and plants.
Day 4 - Sun, moon, and stars in place.
Day 5 - Atmosphere + animals of the waters.
Day 6 - Land animals + Adam & Eve.
Day 7 - Day of rest.

1,500 years. Pre-Flood "Geology." Laws of science invalid.

(2) Adam and Eve, talking snakes, etc.
(3) World's waters are in great Venus-like atmosphere or in ground
water. No rain, no ocean basins.
(4) Radiometric dating invalid; speed of light changed.
(5) Humans, dinosaurs, mammals, the "works," all live together in
peace. Both lions and Tyranosaurus Rex are vegetarians in Eden before
the "fall."
(6) Human life spans up to 900 years.
(7) Battle of Satan and angels produces craters on moon.

Flood Year: Flood "Geology" - ONE (?) year of normal (?) "science"

Rain - 40 days
(8) Big animals run to mountain tops. Not a single dumb human caught
in all the early flood sediments. All dinosaurs washed off only in
middle flood-time.
(9) Coral reefs (Guadalupe Mountains of Texas) grow to thicknesses of
half a mile during single year.
(10) Vast coal beds accumulate one on top of another, each as original
swamp deposits on order of 100 feet thick, all in one year.
(11) Mile-thick salt formations in Utah form by evaporation (!) of
seawater during (!) the flood.

Flood - about 250 days.
(12) Most of the world's sedimentary rocks dumped on continents to
average thickness of one mile, almost entirely during the flood year.
(13) Most continental drift occurs. Flood waters drain into the newly
formed ocean basins. Atlantic opens at average rate of 1/2 mile per
hour.
(14) Most deep sea sediments (average about 1,500 feet thick) collect
on the newly opened ocean floors.
(15) Hawaiian volcano built 30,000 feet high on new sea floor. (Cools
enough for birds and plants from Ark to colonize soon after end of
flood year.

Final Retreat - ? 100 days ?
(16)Volcano of Mount Ararat built 7,000 feet high underwater and cools
in time for grounding of the Ark.
(17) Successive Yellowstone ash beds bury 10 to 27 forests one on top
of another, all grown during single year.
(18) Grand Canyon cut by receding flood waters. Flood sediments
de-water and harden in one year to rock strong enough to stand as
steep, mile-high cliffs.

Post-Flood Geology - 4,500 years of normal (?) science to
Present
(19)From Ark, Noah (?) directs streams of distinctive animal and plant
communities to migrate to Africa, Australia, South America, etc.
(Ferry service ?) (Some creationists use post-flood continental
drift at rates up to one mile per hour !)
(20)Sun stands still for Israelite battle. Earth stops rotating and
then starts again due to near-miss by Venus out of its orbit ?
(Velikovsky)
(21)Only one ice age as post-flood atmosphere cools.
Geologists' abundant evidence of many great ice advances
separated by sub-tropical vegetation and development of thick soil zones
between some advances are wrong.
(22)Late-flood granite masses, formed at 1,000 degrees (F.), cool to
present low temperatures at rates in violation of all laws of thermal
physics. Fit to radiometric dates is mere coincidence.
(23)Extreme rates of continental drift typical of flood (1/2 mile per
hour) suddenly slow to present-day laser-measured rates of inches per
year. Accord of present rates with radiometric dates is mere chance.
(24)Coral reefs (Bikini, Eniwetok) grow 1/2 to 1 mile thick in first
1,000 years (rate of one foot per month) then slow to present measured
rates of inches per century.

The Racial Profiling Song

Here it is to the tune of my third favorite Billy Joel Song:

Thanks to The Voice who got it from Cannuckistan Chronicles.

THE UNANIMATED SIMPSONS

You Are Krusty the Clown

You were the class clown as a kid, and you still entertain people.

From faking your own death to getting a wacky boob job, you'll do anything for a laugh.

You will be remembered for: your face being everywhere, from cereal to home pregnancy tests

Your life philosophy: "I heartily endorse this event or product."

Religion Quotes from The Simpsons

"I've always wondered if there was a god. And now I know there is -- and it's me."
- Homer Simpson

"Dear Lord: The gods have been good to me. For the first time in my life, everything is absolutely perfect just the way it is. So here's the deal: You freeze everything the way it is, and I won't ask for anything more. If that is OK, please give me absolutely no sign. OK, deal. In gratitude, I present you this offering of cookies and milk. If you want me to eat them for you, give me no sign. Thy will be done." - Homer Simpson

"Good drink... good meat... good God, let's eat!" - Homer Simpson

Stealing? How could you?! Haven’t you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church? Captain what’s-his-name? We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn’t hear anybody laughin’, did you?”
- Homer Simpson

"I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman!"
- Homer Simpson

"Come on Milhouse, there’s no such thing as a soul! It’s just something they made up to scare kids, like the Boogie Man or Michael Jackson.”
- Bart Simpson

"I remember another gentle visitor from the heavens, he came in peace and then died, only to come back to life, and his name was E.T., the extra terestrial. I loved that little guy."
- Reverend Lovejoy

"Once something has been approved by the Government, It's no longer immoral."
- Reverend Lovejoy

"And as we pass the collection plate, please give as if the person next to you was watching."
-Reverend Lovejoy

Lovejoy: "Get a divorce."
Marge: "But isn't that a sin?"
Lovejoy: "Marge, just about everything is a sin. Y'ever sat down and read this thing? Technically, we're not allowed to go to the bathroom."

"This so-called new religion is nothing but a pack of weird rituals and chants designed to take away the money of fools. Now let us say the lord's prayer 40 times, but first let's pass the collection plate."
- Rev. Lovejoy

"Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends! Well I say there are some things we don't want to know! Important things!"
- Ned Flanders

"I put out these milk and cookies as a sacrifice. If Thou wishest me to eat them, please give me a
sign by doing absolutely nothing. MMMMmmmm..."
- Homer Simpson

"If the Bible has taught us nothing else, and it hasn't, it's that girls should stick to GIRLS sports, such as hot oil wrestling, foxy boxing, and such and such."
- Homer Simpson

"Prayer has no place in the public schools, just like facts have no place in organized religion."
- School Superintendent on "The Simpsons" episode #100, 1994

"Suppose we've chosen the wrong god. Every time we go to church we're just making him madder and madder"
- Homer Simpson's version of Pascal's Wager

Some more:

Homer: No offense Apu, but when they're handing out religions you must be out taking a whizz.
Apu: Mr. Simpson, pay for your purchases and get out...and come again.

Homer: Lisa, you're a Buddhist, so you believe in reincarnation. Eventually, Snowball will be reborn as a higher lifeform... like a snowman.

Bart: Aren't we forgeting the true meaning of Christmas? You know, the birth of Santa.

Homer: The lesson is: Our God is vengeful! O spiteful one, show me who to smite and they shall be smoten.

Homer: I'm not a bad guy! I work hard, and I love my kids. So why should I spend half my Sunday hearing about how I'm going to Hell?

Homer: Your mother has this crazy idea that gambling is wrong. Even though they say it's okay in the Bible.
Lisa: Really? Where?
Homer: Eh, somewhere in the back.

Barney: Jesus must be spinning in his grave!

Dear God. We paid for all this stuff ourselves, so thanks for nothing. - Bart

Oh, everything’s too damned expensive these days. This bible cost 15 bucks! And talk about a preachy book! Everybody’s a sinner! Except this guy. - Homer

Is Canada Growing Balls On The Palestinian Issue?

On Friday, Canada along with the USA vetoed a non-binding motion calling on Israel to allow all Palestinian refugee women and children to return to their homes.
"Their homes" ? Who writes this crap?
The South-African-sponsored resolution was adopted by the UN Economic and Social Council by a vote of 41-2. Lots of abstaining I imagine.
Hopefully this will be just a start of a brand new policy shift. I hope Harper remains consistent. I think it is obvious he understands that Hamas equals Al Qaeda. You don't aid terrorists, you do whatever it takes to destroy them.
The problem is that Canada is full of bleeding heart liberals who make excuses for terrorist acts and just don't get it.

I found the story in the comment section of Waking Up Planet X's story on Tom Fox.

Amazingly, doing a news search on Yahoo and Google I could only find one link about this vote.

The Bibles: Do People Really Know The History Of Them?

There a some great blogs out there that deal with debunking religion like Debunking Christianity, Goosing the Antithesis, and Recovering Ortho Jew. I'm not even going to pretend to be in their league as far biblical knowledge goes, but like with science, I'm pretty good when it comes to a layman's understanding of the topic. The points they discuss are fascinating. And what I find sad is, that the same people who call evolution a crock, also believe their bible is based on fact, in most instances.

I read a tremendous account of the history of the Old and New Testament this morning. I suggest that everyone of my readers check this out.
The author factually explains the reasons behind the content of the Bibles and the historical context which led to a need to write these "books of God."
To sum it up, bibles were written at times when followers were all over the map in their beliefs. The writers borrowed ancient mythological stories coupled with believable, but incorrect human history.
As literacy rates went up in the Holy land, writers put down their mythological stories on paper. The Old Testament writers of around 750-650 BC, used the story of the Hyksos who were driven out of Egypt around 1570 BC, as their foundation for the Exodus myth, for example.

In order to get the people to defend Israel from Assyria, the concept of monotheism was reinforced by Isaiah, who gave god some new and improved qualities.
When the Assyrians forced the Jews into exile, for 48 years, God's qualities again were modified, and when the Jews were allowed back as foreigners, even more modifications were made to be consistent with the times, like the NO KING rule.
Then came the Greek skeptics who started influencing many of the Jews of Palestine.
They started to look at the bible as a bunch of allegorical stories, causing Jews to be in different camps.
Quoting Scott Bidstrup's article, "And Greek philosophy, skeptical and secular in many ways, made a great deal of sense. So again our Hebrew culture is presented with a problem.
How can the Jewish god, who by now had acquired a great deal of mythological and philosophical baggage, be reconciled with the unspeakable, unknowable god(s) of the Greek philosophers?"
The literal maniacal jealous vengeful god wasn't a hit with most people.
Then came the height of Roman persecution of the Jews and the Destruction of the Second Temple, causing every Rabbi to be on his own. And of course, that maniac God let his people down again. The time was perfect just leading up to this event and of course after it, to redefine god one more time. Making him out to be a loving, understanding, turn the other cheek sort of dude, who promises an eternal blissful after life for all those who accept him. The early Christians found a perfect scam, people already believed in God, now they finally had the hook to reel the suckers in.
And of course it snowballed.
In fact, the Jesus myth was mostly a combination of Dionysus, a Greek God and Yeishu ha Notzri(Jesus of Nazereth???), a magician from around 100 BC and Pagan stories.
Not a word was written about Jesus until Mark put something on paper, around 70 AD, almost 40 years after Jesus' supposed death. He wrote nothing about the virgin birth or mangers or wisemen, because that idea didn't come along until later. The stories just built on one another from Mark to Matthew to Luke to John.

Taken from an article by John Bice, 'Early Christian cults embraced a highly diverse variety of beliefs and disagreed on numerous fundamental elements of faith. Some Christian groups believed Jesus was divine, but others believed he was merely a man. Some Jesus cults believed in two gods, others in 12, 30, even 365 distinct gods. Religious scholar, Bart Ehrman writes in his new book , "Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why.", "All these groups claimed to be Christian, insisting that their views were true and had been taught by Jesus and his followers."'
Eventually a weeding out process occurred, and the New Testament was written. Taking a little bit from here, and a little bit from there.

Of course, then came the numerous rewrites, Protestant revisions, the King James version, etc. All rewritten to appease the current political and religious leaders of the time they were rewritten. And of course the language barrier: "thousands of New Testament manuscripts exist, including over 5,700 in the original Greek language, but "among these thousands of copies, no two of them are exactly alike in their wording."

Bice concludes: "Rational people, however, will recognize that the Bible is a demonstrably imperfect, purposely altered and error-ridden collection of texts created by humans, not a mythical supreme being."

The one thing I liked the best from Bidstrup's article is the concept called the Negative Evidence Principle. I never heard of it before, but here is how he describes it:

"Here's how the N.E.P. works - it states that you have good reason for not believing in a proposition if the following three principles are satisfied: First, all of the evidence supporting the proposition has been shown to be unreliable. Second, there is no evidence supporting the proposition when the evidence should be there if the proposition is true. And third, a thorough and exhaustive search has been made for supporting evidence where it should be found."

The Negative Evidence Principle discredits both The Exodus, and the existence of Jesus Christ.

Again, don't shoot the messenger.

Arab Intelligence, Insanity, and Intolerance Explained

This is part two to my post about Middle Eastern low literacy, and embarrassingly low Arab IQ rates.

I've done some more digging on the subject and found various reasons to explain why Arabs behave and react the way they do.

First off, I like this description: "The Arab world is incapable of development because it prefers envy, resentment, hatred, vendetta, gender apartheid, conspiracy theories and religious superstition." This statement for the most part is true, although we are seeing some development in countries like the UAE. And it really explains the Arabs irrational behaviour when it comes to cartoons and Israel.

Again, the above is based on observation, but doesn't explain why. Now for the controversial unPC good part: All men WERE created equal. It is true, that every human being on this planet trace back to the first bipeds in Africa. But then the Exodus to other other regions on this planet began around 50-60,000 years ago. And that is when equality stopped. Although, in most instances, average intelligence between one race and/or culture and another is not that different, there are some cultures that have a lot to overcome.

The Arabs in the Middle East have a really bad habit of marrying their first and second cousins. "Many marry their first cousins in arranged marriages to this day. In the past, this was done to help conserve resources and contribute to the clan's support and defense. Consanguinity (marriage between people that are blood relatives) has been practiced in the Middle East for over 100 generations, even before the introduction of Islam in the seventh century," and "It is estimated that over 60 percent of Saudis marry first or second cousins, which is the highest in the world. However, the numbers are still staggering in Iraq (58 percent), Kuwait (55 percent), Jordan (50 percent) and the UAE (48 percent)."

Besides illnesses brought on by genetic disorders incest causes, this interbreeding also promotes stupidity and insanity.

Bill Levinson concludes "Saudis are, however, far less advanced than whales and other wild animals that manage to avoid inbreeding."

But that is just part of it. I'm a firm believer that IQ reflects nature and nurture. I'm sure that stupid people do stupid things, and that if those stupid people are the ones who control the culture, which is the case in most of Arabia, then nurture only makes the average Arab more stupid. Arabs who grow up in the West seem to do well on IQ tests. But not so in Arabia. Not where the oppressed are brought up to hate the West by the Arab leaders, who deflect the blame onto the West.
Arabs are brought up generally to believe ego, resentment and vendetta is far more important than education. It is a culture that incites hatred over education.

In fact, the Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development released a study last October that shows how absolutely pitiful the sciences are studied in Arab states. Some of the findings:

►No Arab country spends more than 0.2 percent of its gross national product on scientific research, and most of that money goes toward salaries. By contrast, the United States spends more than 10 times that amount.

►Fewer than one in 20 Arab university students pursue scientific disciplines.

►There are only 18 computers per 1,000 people in the Arab world. The global average is 78 per 1,000.

►Only 370 industrial patents were issued to people in Arab countries between 1980 and 2000. In South Korea during that same period, 16,000 industrial patents were issued.

►No more than 10,000 books were translated into Arabic over the entire past millennium, equivalent to the number translated into Spanish each year.

The bottom line. Arabs cannot have nukes and Arabia must be reformed. You don't let insane, unintelligent people have Weapons of Mass Destruction EVER.

George Bush: Hypocritical Assmonkey or Evil Genius

George Dubya Bush Jr. has done something amazing. He has united over 75% of Americans on one issue: the Port's Deal. He now has Liberals fearing for the security of America. He has made the Democrats fight for his agenda, and the Republicans, for the most part, have held their ground on their stance on the War on Terror.
Only an Evil Genius could have pulled this off.
Is this part of Bush's Master Plan? Is this how he is going to get the green light to give Iran a very big spanking?

How can Fundies look at the above picture an not believe in evolution?

Any ways, Bush may look like the missing link, but he could also be the most diabolical Evil Genius in the history of the United States.

We will know soon whether he is an Evil Genius. If the Port's deal doesn't go through and Iran is dealt an expensive blow without too much Liberal crying, then Bush is an Evil Genius.

Bacon and God: Atheists without science?

Click on cartoon to enlarge it.

The history of Atheism is pretty interesting. The Greeks of 4th and 5th Century BC had a few quasi Atheists and there was even talk of biological evolution. Then the Church took over it seems and silenced freethought for a long time. Atheism started to gain momentum in the 18th Century, but it was mainly because a few intellectuals started doubting the bible. I really don't know what these pre-evolution Atheists thought when it came to the idea of man starting off as man on this earth. There was atomic theory, but I'm not sure if that covered abiogenesis. To have humans start off as humans on earth implies a creator, unless a chemical reaction in a hostile atmosphere can somehow produce a human baby.
Interesting quote from The Marquis de Sade in 1782: "The cause and explanation of what you do not understand may perhaps be the simplest thing in the world. Perfect your physics and you will understand Nature better, refine your reason, banish your prejudices and you'll have no further need of your god".

LET'S PRETEND I'M SUPREME RULER OF CANAMERICA

OK, I know, I'm not going to make everyone happy here and I'm not going to find anyone who agrees with me completely. Keep in mind, I'm a godless rationalist and the following ideas and thoughts reflect that.

The first thing that I would do is amalgamate Canada and the USA politically, with an eye towards Mexico in the next 50 years. Canada and the USA share the same Western ideology, and philosophy. There is no need to have a political border between the two nations. Culture can still be maintained, just like the South in America has a different culture from the American nomadic-like individual who lives in Buttswipe, Minnesota.

Now the issues(easy ones first):

Prostitution

Legalize it. Regulate it. It is a reality. The government should make money off it, and the health of the prostitutes should be monitored regularly. Most sex is about prostitution anyways, whether it is has to do with marriage, pre-marital dating(when the woman tries to hook the man). Whether it is an emotional gain or materialistic gain, it is prostitution. Sex driven by biogical reasons only does happen, but it isn't the main reason two people are together for more than a one or two night stand.

Gambling

Legalize it. Again, the black market on gambling is huge. It is going to happen regardless. Everyone knows that people are betting, whether it is with old fashion bookies or new fashion internet bookies. The government should be in on it. Back when there weren't any offshore houses, at least the money would stay in domestic hands, but now it leaves the country. It is ridiculous for this to happen. If it becomes regulated and legal, at least problem gamblers can be spotted quickly and helped.

Drugs

Legalize pot. Keep alcohol legal. Life sometimes is harsh and we need to escape every once in a while if we choose to. Myself, I hardly ever drink. I used to when I chased skirts. I have other means of escape, but I don't want to deny the less creative. Heroin and cocaine should be dealt with severely. The drug dealer and importers should be looking at a minimum of five years for a first offense. The users should get a 3 month sentence for a first offense in a drying out jail(different than a regular jail full of actual criminals). Second offense would be a year. Cocaine and heroin can kill you immediately. Illegal. Drunk drivers should be jailed 3 months, no questions asked for a first offense. And 2 years for a second offense. A universal test will be needed for those who drive stoned, and they should receive the same sentence as drunk drivers.

Death Penalty

If you murder a stranger, you get the death penalty and or if you murder a child not in your immediate family, you can get the death penalty. These are cold blooded murders in my books. Emotionally driven murderers (and I'm not calling terrorist acts emotionally driven) should receive 30 years to life.
If someone rapes a child(this includes any adult having sex with anyone 12 or under), they get 30 years to life. No exceptions. Not even for Priests.

Abortion

The world has enough unwanted children, but I'm not going to use this as the basis for my belief here. Any stance on abortion is considered contraversial these days, but everyone has a stance.
I believe that if the woman can live with her decision to abort a fetus, it is her choice. I consider any living being that can't survive outside of the womb and grow up without expected defects to be abortable. According to what I've read on the subject, I am comfortable with 26 weeks. After 26 weeks, no abortions. But there is no law that prevents a pregnant woman from going skiing or sky diving or falling down a flight of stairs(wink wink).

Separatation of Church and State

No religion in public schools. None. Zero. No homeschooling either. We don't need kids to grow up thinking the sun revolves around the earth. If you want religion in school, there are private schools, there is also your house of worship. If you don't have enough of a population to have a private school for your specific religion, move to a country that does. No, Sikhs cannot bring hatchets to school because of religious freedom. Christmas and Easter are to be grandfathered in as holidays. It will still be OK for kids to hand out Christmas cards (as long as they dont contain anti-semitic messages) and Valentines day cards (kids need to deal with the reality that they may not receive one if they are an unlikable sociopath. It is a good lesson in life).

Taxation and a Paperless Monetary System

The future is here. Start implementing this now. Fingerprint and/or wrist chip technology should be used for ALL financial transactions that are not done on-line. Pin numbers will still be needed to keep the hackers (limb hackers that is) away from identity theft.
Personal taxes and business taxes should not be brain surgery. My idea is to have government regulated approved expenses and other deductions for every type of job imaginable and every type of business imaginable(this will keep the government busy as they have to approve what is what for each case if something new is brought up). All transactions will fall into the specific individuals own expense categories (personal living expenses versus expenses related to business, which come off gross income). Every transaction falls into one of the categories. At the end of the year, the government emails you a statment on much you owe. It will be a straight 20% of earned net income (yes, you still get to deduct Retirement Savings as against gross income). All welfare checks will have the 20% deducted at source.
A person can have multiple business accounts if he or she has different sources of income. Different pins are needed for these accounts because the deductions will be different. Corporations will be dealt with the same way as an individual. A straight 20% tax on net income. No off shore tax deductions will be allowed for corporation or individual.
All goods and services will have a 10% tax as well. No exceptions. Native Indians included.

Privacy

Since the government already knows all your transactions(see above), they can react accordingly based on any red flags that may come up. This should curtail terrorist funding and other black market dealings. I guess the door is open for barterring (drugs for guns, for example), but again, any unusual types of transfers or purchases will warrant a red flag. And I give the government unlimited power to act against suspicious activity.

Immigration

I'm realistic enough to know that 30,000 years from now, if man is still around, every human alive will probably have olive skin and slightly slanted eyes. The society will be mainly agnostic and atheist. But this isn't 30,000 from now. People are still upset over cultural and/or racial differences, especially if someone wants to come over here an impose their own cultural dogma on us.
Immigration should be related to current employment levels. If unemployment rates are too high, immigration should cease until they decline.
All immigrants need to sign an oath stating they know they will be kicked out immediately if they commit any criminal act that has a sentence of one year or more attached to it and they will comply with all rules in place on the date of their arrival. This is a lifetime contract.

War on Terror

At this present time, Radical Islam is an immediate threat to Western civilization and the future of life on this planet. We can not sit idly by and wait to be attacked. Their fairly young dogma must be changed. Their culture must be reformed.
Eskimos don't need their culture reformed, but the Muslim world does. Until such a reform occurs, the War on Terror is a top priority.

Health Care

This is where a good chunk of your tax money will go. And I am not against having a tiered hospital set up either. If you can afford it, you are free to seek premium care. But basic needs will be payed by the government(Canada's system).

Trade

Outsourcing and trade is a problem. I think the only way around it is to impose more significant tariffs. Domestic jobs need to be protected at all costs. Canamerica can not continue to be a Sugar Daddy for the rest of the world. Aid should be cut off except in humanitarian circumstances. Any region that welcomes terrorism should be exempt from aid.

Gay Marriages

If gay people want to get married, let em. Really simple. What is marriage any ways? The highest divorce rates are found amongst the most religious. Now since I'm allowing for gay marriages, can you guys stop kissing in public? I just don't like looking at it. It isn't a law or anything. Just do me a favor. Thanks. Oh yeah, women you can keep kissing in public, that's cool.

Censorship

TV stations, radio station and newspapers can either choose to have adult content(cursing and/or nudity) or not have it. Just let the religious goody two shoes know ahead of time that a certain TV station may show a nipple at any given time so that they can channel block it if they choose.
I'm also pro-cum shot too when it comes to late night TV. Why hide it? It's a reality. Put it on Fear Factor. It would be fun.

OK, now you know where I stand and what I would do if I was Supreme Ruler of Canamerica. Like the good Atheist that I am, all the above is subject to change based on new information. It was a constant flow of new information, that turned me from an assumptive believer in god to a proud non rigid Atheist in the first place.

Funny Video Time

Thanks Al for sending me the new episode of Ask The Fruitcake Lady.

Personally, I don't think she is a fruitcake.
Regardless. Watch it and laugh your head off (LYHO).

Here is an earlier video in case you want to keep on laughing:

Canadian Study Suggests Screening New Immigrants

Thank, Relapsed Catholic for finding the story.

In a study released a couple of days ago on counterterrorism policies:

Former senior Foreign Affairs official Martin Collacott writes that Ottawa should "demand a more explicit commitment to Canada and Canadian values on the part of newcomers."
*****************************
OK, Canada is a Mosaic. But a Western Mosaic. We don't condone terrorism. Heck, we don't even have a death penalty. I'm thinking that what Collacott is referring to here is that we don't expect new immigrants to fight for Mecca or plot to fight for Mecca from within Canada, and we don't expect new immigrants to be involved in criminal elements. Make no mistakes, this study is all about the Muslims. He isn't talking about the Chinese here (yeah, I know there are some Chinese Muslims).

"If they find such acceptance difficult, they should not come here in the first place," Mr. Collacott writes in Canada's Inadequate Response to Terrorism: The Need for Policy Reform.
***************************************
I really like the wording here. Canada is not Mecca. If you are touchy about being scrutinized for your loyalties, stay out of here.

Here is the oath: "swearing that they are not only fully committed to Canadian values and will give their complete allegiance and loyalty to Canada, but that their actions in the future will reflect these commitments."

Those who behave in a manner that seriously conflicts with Canada's principles -- for example by supporting or engaging in terrorism -- should lose their citizenship, he argues.
***************************************
Prison is good for anyone who is born here who commits a terrorist related act. A new immigrant who commits such an act should get thrown out and I don't care if his life is in danger wherever he is thrown. This should be a lifetime contract between the Canadian government and the new immmigrant.

'In the paper, he says that while a variety of terrorist groups are active in Canada "most terrorist attacks in Western countries in recent years have been carried out by Muslim immigrants."

He urges Canada to reform the refugee and immigration systems, but also to build bridges with the Muslim community, both to ensure Muslims are a full part of Canadian society and to enlist their help in dealing with extremists.'
**********************************
Canada is a haven for terrorists, no question. The Liberal policies of the past have caught up to us. I'm not against immigration, but I think we went overboard; too much, too fast. New Canadians are getting special treatment by second generation Canadians who have many government positions and wield tremendous overall influence. And now it is political suicide here to speak the truth, while attempting to get elected. It is almost taboo here to attempt to fight terror. The majority of Canadians want terror eliminated, but the means needed to do so "offend" too many Liberals. Liberals should understand that wishing away cancer without any treatment, rarely gets rid of the cancer.
As far as building bridges. I think that should work two ways. The Muslim community needs to be willing build bridges too. Instead of going berserk over cartoons, maybe they should go berserk against terrorist acts like 9/11.

From another article:
'little action has been taken to stop terrorist fundraising in Canada even though this is now estimated at $180 million a year.'
********************************
This is probably a lowball number. I can see it being much higher. Too many loopholes here.

Canada has a vast border with our closest friend: America. It isn't fair to the USA that we are being so lax in the War on Terrorism. Anyone who doesn't think that the USA is our military protection is fooling themselves. They spend hundreds of billions of dollars protecting Western values and democracy, and Canada benefits from this astronomically. If you aren't here to embrace Western values......................there's the door.

Travel Warning to Israel: Conspiracy Theory

The USA State Department has issueda travel warning to anyone who goes to Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza:

'The US State Department has issued a travel warning for Israel, due to criminal activities by organized crime within the country. This is the first time that the State Department has mentioned organized crime in Israel as a factor liable to jeopardize tourists or other foreign residents traveling in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza.

As usual, the bulk of the travel warning concerns potential risks from Palestinian terrorism, but it also warns about the risk of assault by Jewish settlers and IDF troops against participants in demonstrations and protests. This warning is fairly new.'

Israel is looking for answers:

'“We intend to inquire what caused the Americans to publish a travel warning for tourists wanting to visit Israel. Only then will we publish a response,” said Minister of Tourism Avraham Hirchson today.

Israel Tourist and Travel Agents Association managing director Yossi Fatael called the travel warning astonishing, since Israel had much lower crime rates, compared with the West.'

This is what I think caused it:

Less than a week ago on February 23rd, Lou Dobbs did a good 5 minute piece on the fact that the US State Department has a pretty ugly travel warning when it comes to American who travel to the UAE. Putting in question the Bush administration calling the UAE an ally to the USA.

I highlighted the following from the US Dept. of State website: SAFETY AND SECURITY: Americans in the United Arab Emirates should exercise a high level of security awareness. The Department of State remains concerned about the possibility of terrorist attacks against U.S. citizens and interests throughout the world.

U.S. Government facilities may temporarily close or suspend public services from time to time as necessary to review their security posture and ensure its adequacy.

I'm really thinking that the Arab friends of the Bush administration made this travel warning part of the delay on the Port's deal.
