Ontario CUPE Falls For Arab Rhetoric, Clueless As Well

Ontario Labor Union Joins Boycott Against Israel
14:25 May 29, '06 / 2 Sivan 5766

(IsraelNN.com) The Ontario branch of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has voted to back the international campaign for a boycott against Israel until Jerusalem "recognizes the Palestinian right to self-determination." It is urging the province of Ontario to take Israeli wines off the shelves.

"This is not an attack on Jewish people. It's [an objection to] the state of Israel's policies on Palestinians," CUPE president Sid Ryan said. "They say they are creating an independent state but they're not giving them the tools to do that." The union also condemned what it called the "apartheid wall," referring to the separation barrier which straddles the 1949 Armistice Line.
*******************************************************************
This is a joke right? No, it isn't. First off, since when is Israel responsible for building a Palestinian state? What tools are Israel supposed to give to the Palestinians? Apartheid wall? Try a wall that helps defend Israel against those who want to destroy her. The USA is contemplating walls to protect herself from illegal immigration. Is Cupe going to boycott the USA too? How come Cupe doesn't boycott Arab states for their treatment of women, or for the fact bibles are illegal in Saudi Arabia for example?
This boycott comes on the same day Sid Ryan was re-elected president of Cupe.
I wonder if the two events are related.
Looks like this might affect Israeli wines being sold at LCBO stores. I wonder if any Cupe members are allowed to have medical treatment that was researched and perfected in Israel. What dickheads. This smells very fishy. Do I smell payoffs?

If you want to actually complain about this here are a couple of numbers that were attached to Cupe's boycott announcement:

The Sand Dunes On Which Tel Aviv Was Built in 1909

This Palestinian conflict issue is really ridiculous. I mean unbelievable. The whole thing is predicated on one big LIE: Israel is on Arab land.

Just because the Arabs believe this, and they've convinced many Moonbats as well, doesn't mean it is true. It is just OPINION. And an opinion based on nonsense. Just because somebody lives on a land, doesn't make it their land. Do people living in public housing own the buildings, is it their land? If a building gets condemned, they have to move. If they choose to leave their building or not pay rent, they lose their rights to the building.

Here is an excellent historical perspective to prove that the concept that Israel is on Arab land is completely false(from an article How Strong Is The Arab Claim to Palestine by Lawrence Auster:

'There is a myth hanging over all discussion of the Palestinian problem: the myth that this land was "Arab" land taken from its native inhabitants by invading Jews. Whatever may be the correct solution to the problems of the Middle East, let's get a few things straight:

* As a strictly legal matter, the Jews didn't take Palestine from the Arabs; they took it from the British, who exercised sovereign authority in Palestine under a League of Nations mandate for thirty years prior to Israel's declaration of independence in 1948. And the British don't want it back.
* If you consider the British illegitimate usurpers, fine. In that case, this territory is not Arab land but Turkish land, a province of the Ottoman Empire for hundreds of years until the British wrested it from them during the Great War in 1917. And the Turks don't want it back.
* If you look back earlier in history than the Ottoman Turks, who took over Palestine over in 1517, you find it under the sovereignty of the yet another empire not indigenous to Palestine: the Mamluks, who were Turkish and Circassian slave-soldiers headquartered in Egypt. And the Mamluks don't even exist any more, so they can't want it back.

So, going back 800 years, there's no particularly clear chain of title that makes Israel's title to the land inferior to that of any of the previous owners. Who were, continuing backward:

* The Mamluks, already mentioned, who in 1250 took Palestine over from:
* The Ayyubi dynasty, the descendants of Saladin, the Kurdish Muslim leader who in 1187 took Jerusalem and most of Palestine from:
* The European Christian Crusaders, who in 1099 conquered Palestine from:
* The Seljuk Turks, who ruled Palestine in the name of:
* The Abbasid Caliphate of Baghdad, which in 750 took over the sovereignty of the entire Near East from:
* The Umayyad Caliphate of Damascus, which in 661 inherited control of the Islamic lands from
* The Arabs of Arabia, who in the first flush of Islamic expansion conquered Palestine in 638 from:
* The Byzantines, who (nice people—perhaps it should go to them?) didn't conquer the Levant, but, upon the division of the Roman Empire in 395, inherited Palestine from:
* The Romans, who in 63 B.C. took it over from:
* The last Jewish kingdom, which during the Maccabean rebellion from 168 to 140 B.C. won control of the land from:
* The Hellenistic Greeks, who under Alexander the Great in 333 B.C. conquered the Near East from:
* The Persian empire, which under Cyrus the Great in 639 B.C. freed Jerusalem and Judah from:
* The Babylonian empire, which under Nebuchadnezzar in 586 B.C. took Jerusalem and Judah from:
* The Jews, meaning the people of the Kingdom of Judah, who, in their earlier incarnation as the Israelites, seized the land in the 12th and 13th centuries B.C. from:
* The Canaanites, who had inhabited the land for thousands of years before they were dispossessed by the Israelites....
....The Arabs have roiled the world for decades with their furious protest that their land has been "stolen" from them. One might take seriously such a statement if it came from a pacifist people such as the Tibetans, who had quietly inhabited their land for ages before it was seized by the Communist Chinese in 1950. The claim is laughable coming from the Arabs, who in the early Middle Ages conquered and reduced to slavery and penury ancient peoples and civilizations stretching from the borders of Persia to the Atlantic; who in 1947 rejected an Arab state in Palestine alongside a Jewish state and sought to obliterate the nascent Jewish state; who never called for a distinct Palestinian Arab state until the creation of the terrorist PLO in 1964—sixteen years after the founding of the state of Israel; and who to this moment continue to seek Israel's destruction, an object that would be enormously advanced by the creation of the Arab state they demand. The Arab claim to sovereign rights west of the Jordan is only humored today because of a fatal combination of world need for Arab oil, leftist Political Correctness that has cast the Israelis as "oppressors," and, of course, good old Jew-hatred."

  1. The problem lies in the muslim collective consciousness defect, that once they steal your land, it is theirs forever.

If they take Jerusalem, you can bet that next they will be foaming about Granada, Toledo and Valencia.

Not only should they be kicked out of Jerusalem, but Constantinople as well.

  2. The entire article is BS. The land is the "property" of those who inhabit it. There were Arabs there long after the Jews were kicked out.

  3. Anon2, what the hell does "property" mean? The article is completely true. There is no such thing as Palestinian land.

So you agree it is Jewish Land?

Or does "current inhabitance" only apply to Arabs?

Your property rhetoric is just a very "bad" opinion.

Read the history of who governed the land. That is whose property it is.

  9. How is it Jewish land? The Jews left after their failed revolt against the Romans. The Arabs were the majority ever since around 700 AD.

Assuming you disagree, whats up with all the Arabs that live there now? Did they just spring from the soil in 1949?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I didn't say it is Jewish land, I said it is a Jewish majority state.
Arabs existed there, and lots of Arabs left in 1948, and lots of Jews came there to live since.
Native Indians were the majority in America for quite some time, and then European whites became the majority, soon European whites won't be the majority in the USA.
A majority doesn't mean it is Arab land.
If Arabs owned more than 50% of the land, then yes, I'd consider it Arab land.

But that NEVER was the case. That is why it was up to Britain what to do with it, not the Arabs.

  12. "That is why it was up to Britain what to do with it, not the Arabs."

BS; the Brits ADMINISTERED the land for the benefit of its inhabitants under the MANDATE. It was never British land. Their entire policy of encouraging Jewish immigration went against the concept of the Mandate; oddly enough one of the reasons the Arabs rioted.

Can you not understand this? Maybe you need to read up on International Law and History before you start spouting your personal interpretations thereof.

  13. It was never British land.

Truly, the most laconic response to justify the Palestinian Right to Return that I have ever seen--sans the justification part.

Their entire policy of encouraging Jewish immigration went against the concept of the Mandate

    Especially this part:

"Whereas recognition has thereby been given to the historical connection of the Jewish people with Palestine and to the grounds for reconstituting their national home in that country"

    and this Article:

"The Administration of Palestine, while ensuring that the rights and position of other sections of the population are not prejudiced, shall facilitate Jewish immigration under suitable conditions and shall encourage, in co-operation with the Jewish agency. referred to in Article 4, close settlement by Jews, on the land, including State lands and waste lands not required for public purposes."

What was that about reading laws?? Now of course the friction lies with the proviso "under suitable conditions." Dhimmitude seems to be the only suitable condition under which Jews may be tolerated where Arabo-Muslims are concerned.

  14. One thing is for sure, it was never Arab land.

  15. Good post. I'm sick of the bullshit leftist religion. It is a religion. It's ritualistic, irrational and dangerous. There is no critical thinking, just sweeping generalisations and relativistic nonsense. The fact that these people can just look over stuff like this is laughable. Calling for the death of Israel while ignoring the land issues of American Indians or Australian Aborigines seems rather hypocritical too.

Keep up the posts about the Palestinian conflict, they make for interesting reading.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sorry Dev, my mistake, the policy of encouraging Jewish immigration into the land was part of the Mandate. Of course it was only under suitable conditions and this conditions were not upheld.

No wonder the Arabs were pissed. The Brits decided they had the right to encourage Jews to immigrate to Arab land even though they had no right to do so.

It was Britain's decision in 1947-8.

    It was never Arab land.

    Ever.

Get over it. Once you understand this, you will start thinking straight.

Muslims should worry about their image, and it should start with either forgetting about worrying about Israel or thinking clearly about it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. White Paper was a realization that Arabs are intolerant. Nothing more, nothing less. Britain in 1939 didn't want to piss off the Arabs more than they wanted to save Jewish lives.
But it was up to Britain, not the Arabs what to do.

It was never Arab land. Britain just knew that Palestine was full of intorerant retards.

No wonder the Arabs want it back- but then I forgot- when we gave them the land back in Gaza, complete with funcitoning greenhouses and residences what did the arabs do with it? The didn't farm it, live in the houses, raise their kids in peace- no- they used it as a launching pad for kassam rocket attacks into Israel- So BEAJ, thanks for the great post that succinctly states why the Arabs are full of shit- keep up the good work.

3.6 million people didn't leave Israel in 1948. 600,000 did, and many were absorbed in other countries, and many are dead.
The Palestinians have wages many wars in an attempt to DESTROY Israel.
It isn't Israel who has been holding back the Palestinians.
I have nothing but contempt for them now that they voted in Hamas. I know, you don't like Hamas either.
Hamas represents terrorism. And the Palestinians have shown that peace is not as important as the destruction of Israel is.

  27. Pimpette, worry about Darfur, not the Palestinians. The Furs are much more innocent than the Palestinians and their plight is much harsher.

    ReplyDelete
  28. For the most part Palestinians did not lose their homes. They were the equivalent of renters. You make bad decisions in life, there are consequences you pay. Those who left made a bad choice.
    That is how life works.

Israel is not responsible to build a Palestinian state, and they are not obligated to sit down with those who wish to destroy them.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Israel is not the cause of the Palestinians plight. They have NEVER missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity. And quit lobbying for guns for the assmonkeys, because that is how you are coming across.

The Palestinians are not Israel's problem. They proved it by voting for Hamas.

    Screw them.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Pimpette, you talk passionately about the Jews' responsibility to care for the Palestinian refugees but why do you not mention Arab responsibilities to care for the 700,000 Jews they kicked out?

Is it because Israel treated Jewish refugees like human beings and Arab countries treated Palestinians like dogs who should be forced into Lebenese/Syrian/Jordanian camps for decades as their suffering can be exploited for political purposes?

How often do you cry for the 300,000 Palestinians who were kicked out of Kuwait? Is there suffering less significant because their victomizers were Arab Kuwaitees who, unlike Palestinians, did not welcome Saddam's invasion?

True Palestinians cannot wipe Israel off the map, but the five wars committed on their behalf surely could have... and on occasion, almost did. There are still penalties for launching wars of anniliation and losing. By demanding all the 1967 land and aid, the Arab world is proving that they believe they have the right to try to destroy nations, lose, and simply say "ok, do-over! give us everything back and continue begging again for your right to exist". That is not the way the world works.

In Canada, if I leave my house under orders of a foreign invading nation and even fight along with them to kill my Canadian neighbors I have no right to demand my house back after I fail. There are consequences for the choices we make, and by saying Palestinians are somehow exempt from these consequences is to state that they are children incapable of knowing right from wrong. That to me, is racism.

I want a two-state solution where Palestinians can choose to finally embrace prosperity or continue their quest for "justice" using the bodies of their children as bombs. Perhaps on their own they will decide that greenhouses are better used to grow crops than to launch missiles. I swear on my life I hope they prosper!

But for once the Islamic world has to take responsibility for the choices they make. If they force 600,000 Arabs to flee or die as traiters, than it is THEIR responsibility to care for those refugees and not put all the burdon on the worlds most famous scape-goat... the Jews.

  31. My thoughts.
“Arabs should and MIND YOU will be held accountable for those over 750,000 Jewish refugees. There is a lawsuit being filed on their behalf.” A lawsuit, the Muslim countries have had wars with Israel and the Jews. What is a lawsuit going to do? And yes Israel was created to become a safe haven, and it was used for that purpose. But your statement, “Your little rant about Israel being the "bigger" guy and that Arabs should follow suit is a little dull, boring and deceptive,” makes no sense. In the early 1950’s Iraq was looking for farmers they would advertise throughout the Arab world for anyone willing to come to Iraq they would get land, tracker, house as long as they farmed and as long as they were not Palestinian. The Muslim nations have not lifted a finger to help the Palestinians; sure they help build bombs, train terrorist and support racist children TV. But have the Muslim countries built hospitals, schools, NO! Let us not forget that Jordan was part of the original Palestine and that Britain broke Jordan away and made it a separate country. Even today a majority of the population is Palestinian. There is a homeland.

“… neither is the suffering of the Palestinians that were stuck in Iraq once US troops went in.” The suffering of the Palestinians in Kuwait was brought on by themselves. They backed the losing side AGAIN and there were consequences to their action. “The point is - get them a state to return. I'm not even expecting right of return, just a wee little state alongside Israel.” Don’t forget Jordan, it was part of the original Palestine.

“Now, now, Jordan, those wars were NOT ON the behalf of Palestinians. Hmmmmmm, they had to do with water resources and other neighborly disputes, but not on Palestinians behalf - okay - I'll give you the first one, but god knows and apparently so do you - NOBODY really cares about the Palestinians, not the Israelis and not the Arabs, they have just been political pawns all these years. Time for that to stop.” First the wars were not about water resources. The wars were about Jews having the audacity of living free in the midst of Muslim countries. Muslims were murdering Jews way before there was an Israel. It is even written in the Koran about killing Jews. We all agree, stop using the Palestinians as pawns. Israel does not use them; they just want them to stop murdering their people. And please do not go off about how many Palestinians have been killed by Israelis. You want Israel to stop, stop strapping bombs to your children and sending them into market places.

“According to international law - you have the right to go back to your home after a war - Bosnians were kicked out of their European host countries once Dayton was reached. Some of those Bosnians that were able to go back home sided with Serbs and still they got to go back home.” Israel did not control the West Bank and Gaza strip after the war. These were controlled by Jordan and Egypt. They should have allowed them to return. The war has not stopped. Wars end when there is an agreement to cease hostilities. It would seem that the Palestinians have not ceased yet. When Israel and Egypt signed a peace treaty, Israel gave back the Sinai. When the Palestinians are willing to really sit down and stop the murders than we can discuss “after a war” scenario.

Of course, this is why war crime tribunals are set up, but do you think we'll ever see one of those for this conflict?

I'm glad you want that 2 state solution.

“Sorry - but res. 181 gave you a state and further you have the armistice line, more than you even signed on for. Let the Palis have their state. You are allready punishing them by not allowing them right of return (which I don't blame you) and all of the collective punishment that they have endured over the decades.” What punishment? Hospitals, schools, work?? No matter what Israelis try to do the Palestinians through it into their face. They want peace, vote for representatives that want peace. “So, Israel isn't even having to really "take" care of them and Israel, if anything has been exploiting their resources - water, cheap labor, so a little here, let me help you wouldn't be a bad thing. The way I see it though - is just leave it alone, get back behind the armistice lines and build that wall, then treat them like a state - a terrorist state or a friendly state - they will choose. Israel will only reap the benefits - security and the moral high ground.” Exploiting them? The exploitation going on is the Muslim countries treatment of their people of their own religion. Cheap labor, who else are hiring Palestinians from the West Bank? No one. It is time for the Palestinians to stand up and demand from their leaders that they want peace. You can not continue to shoot at your neighbor’s house and demand that he allow you to enter his yard. Be prepared for him to shoot back.

  33. "According to Jewish mythology and tradition, Jerusalem was founded by Shem and Ever, ancestors of Abraham. Modern archeology traces the earliest written record of the city to an Assyrian monument of the 8th century BCE. It is thought that the city dates back to least as far back as 3000 BCE. It was first built and founded by the Canaanites, who gave it the name Urr Salem, meaning "the city of peace"."

So much for Jerusalem being a jewish town.

After Hadrian, many jews came back to Jerusalem. But they were killed or exiled again around 1100 CE by the Crusaders, not the Muslims. They had been living peacefully under Saladin.

But don't let history get in the way of zionist myths.

  36. Pimpette,

I do not think that all Palestinians should be forced to go anywhere. What I am saying is that they keep demanding a country already exists.

But more importantly, all this violence and terrorism started way before Israel was a country. The PLO was formed before the '67 war when Israel took over the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

I find it interesting that Mubarak of Egypt has asked Israel not to leave the West Bank because of all the trouble Jordan will have with the Palestinian population. The whole issue that AJ brings up (AJ if I am incorrect please let me know) is that the Muslim population does not protest against violence committed by Muslims against non-Muslims. That there are many instances of Muslim government’s allowing or directing the teaching of hatred and racism against non-Muslims. That the killing of innocent people is wrong. The issue of Israel stealing land from the Palestinians is a fallacy, Jews bought the land from Arab land owners and produced cities and farms out of swamps and deserts. The Muslim nations have done nothing to improve the plight of the Palestinians but have kept them where they are to fester hatred against a common enemy.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Pimpette,

Again I am not saying that anyone has to leave. What I am saying is that complaining that you do not have a country and murdering people because of that conviction is horrible. Murdering people when your basic concept is incorrect, they have a country, is even worse.

If every group of people in this world started to blow up innocent people by strapping bombs to children every time someone became a refugee, especially after 3 or 4 generations later, we would have lots of dead bodies around.

I maintain that the Palestinians are murdering because Jews live in Israel and that Israel exists. This has nothing to do with the West Bank or Gaza since the murdering started way before Israel had the West Bank and Gaza. Also the Palestinian charters have not changed to reflect that Israel has a right to exist.

Do you think it is ok for Palestinians to murder people because they want the West Bank and Gaza? When do the Palestinians have to take responsibility for their actions? No matter what atrocity they commit the world forgives them as if they have a special permit to murder people.
