The much anticipated controversial short movie (17 minutes) FITNA is now available on line. It is really a very well done anti-Islam movie, which takes actual quotes from the Koran and quotes from radical Muslims and then illustrates how these Muslims and the Koran aren't just trying to scare us:
Originally, I had the below link up to show the movie, but it seems that Live Leak has received credible threats and wound up grudgingly taking the film off its site. Click the video below to see Live Leak's explanation:
I had to add the shot against Obama because I strongly believe that pulling out of Iraq will absolutely give radical Islam a perceived victory. And after watching FITNA, who wants that? Obama is not the right guy for the job today. Maybe in 100 years, but not today.
I also think that as John McCain stated about radical Muslims after 9/11 (as paraphrased by Rondi on her blog): "We are going to have to kill a lot of them and civilize the rest of them," is as true today as it was over 6 years ago.
Note: Correction, it was Lawrence Eagleburger, a McCain adviser, who was responsible for the above quote.
McCain is going to be the next President. From what I've watched and read, Hillary Clinton is pretty much mathematically eliminated from winning, and 28% of her supporters will vote for McCain if she doesn't end up as the Democratic nominee.
McCain is also no pushover for the Christian Right either. He'll concern himself with real business.

ReplyDeleteIs a "perceived victory" for radical Islam really worse than a perpetual occupation? The occupation not only costs us lives and billions of dollars, but it itself serves as a recruiting tool for radical Islam.

The only way we're going to "defeat" radical Islam is by assimilating them into Western culture. McDonald's and Hollywood are going to have a lot more to do with it than the Pentagon.

No they won't. They may claim that they will, but they won't.

I agree with that, but for someone who has been around as long as he has, he shows a striking lack of knowledge (e.g. on foreign policy and economics) and very poor judgment (e.g. the invasion and Iran.)
I strongly believe that pulling out of Iraq will absolutely give radical Islam a perceived victory.
ReplyDeleteExcuse me BEAJ, but that's easy for you to say when it isn't 4,000 plus Canadian soldiers killed, tens of thousands more wounded, and a bill that will likely cost some 3 TRILLION DOLLARS.
What better recruiting poster could radical Islam ask for than an infidel American army occupying (not very well, I might add, as potable drinking water and electricity are still in short supply after 5 years) a country in the heart of the Arab Muslim world?
And the hubris behind the supporters of this occupation that it is somehow within our power to shape the outcome in Iraq to our choosing. We do not have that power. Bush's invasion and occupation of Iraq is probably America's worst foreign policy blunder of my adult lifetime.
I knew my comments would upset quite a few people.
ReplyDeleteI'm just going to say this, the affects of the Iraq war will not be completely known for 25 years.
This was the first step in the taming of Islam in my opinion. It was as inevitable as the Atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima and that other town in Japan (Nagasaki?) I'm not on Jeopardy right now, and I'm too lazy to look it up.
Oh and Tommy, I'm not talking as a Canadian, but as a full fledged Neocon:)
I think the issue here is not whether to withdraw from Iraq or whether this candidate is the right one or that one is in bed with war mongers or whether some Dutch made a video. The extremism that is tackling freedom of speech and all these governments and news agencies being apologetic for bunch of embassy bombs flag burners is something that violates our unalienable rights which are guaranteed in the universal declaration of human rights.
ReplyDeleteThe ruling class is clearly in cahoots with appeasing their Saudi, Iraqi and yes Iranian allies for nothing more than oil. they have sold our freedoms for barrels of rotten trees.
FASCISTS.
I don't hope as much that McCain gets elected as I hope O(s)ama doesn't. All efforts should be directed at preventing the Islamofascist/anti-Semite bastard from getting into office, thus we should vote McCain, not because he's a good choice but because he's the only choice.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with Hamad. Hamad, I suspect you're Muslim and I'd like to get as many moderate Muslims to my blog as possible. I'm thinking of blogging together with one for that matter. My basic thesis is that Judaism is a lot closer to Islam than it is to Christianity and that Muslims are the ones getting hurt the most from terrorist attacks.

Well Beaj, since you're a self-described "full fledged Neocon" who happens a couple posts later to post and agree with a Hugh Fitzgerald piece, please notice that Hugh Fitzgerald (w/whom I almost always agree, except for his position on Qaradawi), also supports getting out of Iraq sooner than later and also rejects the neoconservatist myths that "they hate us for our freedoms" and "that democracy and modernity are the solutions."
ReplyDeleteOrde, I agree with all 16 points I published. I don't agree with the author on the points you mention.
ReplyDeleteThere are many people who I agree with when it comes to most of their positions but disagree with many as well.
A YEC may say to be on a nice spring day "this is a great day outside today" and I would agree. But I wouldn't agree with the YEC when he tells me evolution is a crock and the earth is less than 10,000 years old.
Eitan, I don't think Obama is an anti-semite. Though of the big three, he is most likely to be a Dhimmi, and most likely to not favor Israel as much as McCain and Hillary.
ReplyDeleteObama is at least neutral if not positive for the islamist. It is too bad the 16 points you mentioned earlier can not be instituted in full. Enjoyed your blog.
ReplyDeleteYou do realize that John McCain recently said that he didn't know if condoms prevented AIDs, right? He also said the connection between vaccines and autism is well documented? He also actively sought the support of Rev. Hagee and gave the commencement address and Jerry Falwell's Liberty University. He is not a fried of science or reason, and he also starting drumming for war with Iran. Is that the next step in taming Islam? A bigger war to further cripple America's economy and reputation?
ReplyDeleteAs long as McCain separates church and state and lets science do its own thing, I'm fine with him.
ReplyDeleteSo, you're fine with women in the US not having access to abortions? (We're one 80 something year old justice away). You're fine with people in Africa not having access to contraception? You're okay with children in the US not getting comprehensive sexual education?
ReplyDeleteAlso, McCain has made it very clear he won't let science do its own thing. He wants to be able to line-item veto scientific research, and he has shown, repeatedly, that he has little to no understanding of science.
Do some research. The guy is nut. I remember another "compassionate conservative" who appeared rational if you didn't bother to dig a little.
No Jim, I'm not OK with any of that.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to do some more research, because I'm not under the same impression you are.
beaj,
ReplyDeleteI don't mean to be a jerk about it, but I hear the "McCain seems reasonable" line quite a bit. I bought it in 2000, which is one of the reasons it's such a pet peeve.
