Response To Another Muslim Who Doesn't Get It

I must admit the writer of the Avari blog seems very literate and intelligent, at least on the surface, but sadly he is no different in the way he spins, deflects and cherry picks what is written as criticisms against Islam and Muslims.

He dedicated half a blog post to me and my question about Muslims using the term pigs and apes to describe Jews and possibly Christians.

Essentially he is defending the Koran by stating it is foolish to interpret apes and swine in a literal way, and he implies I'm foolish and uneducated for even bringing up the literal translation as a possibility.

I wonder if he bothered opening any of the links I provided in my post. It is a fact that some Arab Muslims, at least, interpret apes and pigs in a literal way when pertaining to Jews and Christians. Whether it is the right or wrong interpretation, it is reality that this idea is being taught to Arab Muslims at a very young age. Sure it is foolish, I find all literal interpretation, of all bibles foolish, but it doesn't stop many Muslims, Jews, and Christians, etc. from believing fully in literal interpretations. It was very juvenile of him to shoot the messenger.

He goes on to relevant points to defend the Koran. But then calls me an idiot as if I'm interpretting the Koran in the most negative way. I am not. But many Muslims are. That was the point of my post.

He says that he disproved me in his post. I have no idea what he thinks my post said. Maybe he needs an interpreter. I know I won't get an apology.

He goes on about my the questions for Muslims. And he uses one Christians Palestinian terrorist as proof that Christian Palestinian terrorists exist. How lame.

And again, he allows me to lump all Muslims together by his unsubstantiated support of the Palestinians and his obsession with Israel. On his sidebar he has a section called "Palestein" with 13 links (including one on the USS Liberty). Of course not even one link that specifically is about Darfur. Does anyone else notice a pattern here? Why is a Pakistani Muslim so interested in Israel but hardly focuses on Darfur(at least he did write a couple of posts on Darfur to his credit).

He even admits why Darfur is hardly mentioned, and it makes total sense:

...I think that there is another reason at work, which is also predicated on the problems we Muslims have with dealing with crimes and wrongs committed by fellow Muslims. When it comes to Iraq vs. America, or Israel vs. Palestine, it is easier to put things down into black and white. It's not just Muslim racism then, but a Muslim cowardice, an inability to face up to our own acts. Believe you me, if America attacked a predominantly black Muslim country, there would be demonstrations everywhere. People would be, quite literally, up in arms. People would be angry. Because it would be a case of a Muslim people suffering a non-Muslim assault.

Notice the sympathies that are expressed throughout the Muslim world for causes that one would not otherwise expect the people to sympathize with, except that the perceived aggressors are not Muslim, and the perceived victims are. Hence, that Muslims are allegedly "silent" (or relatively silent) over Darfur may be attributed, in some measure, to racism, which is a real disease plaguing our society. More accurately, however, our silence is stupefaction, looking into the mirror and seeing ourselves responsible for evil and oppression. We, as humans, do not like to know that persons of our group, our type, our clan, tribe, family or nationality, whatever it may be, are capable of such acts. We are instead hopeful, always, that it is the outsider -- in this case, the non-Muslim -- who is the bad guy.

When the facts prove otherwise, we become embarrassingly silent
....

He seems very reasonable, but something blocked him from understanding the point of my post. I would also like to see him write a piece on why he thinks Israel is on Arab and/or Muslim land.

Congradulations To Spelling Be Champ

I watched the Spelling Be Championships last night and I was ammazed at the perserverance and the abundence of knowlege the participance had. There grammer was impeccible to.
I read alot, but I found it incredably embarassing that these kids new how to spell word that I never even herd of. Does'nt anyone else think it is wierd that these words were so unrecognisable.
The winner, Katharine Close, must have a super computor brain. She was definately the the most noticabley confidant and fastest contestent. She staid away from any miniscule mispellings in the contest, which was remarkible.
Any ways, I'm glad spelling isn't my passtime, as I am some times criticised about my spelling on this blog. I'm still having problems with words like seperate and desparate. I think I'll just stick with things I no, like being an Athiest.

Question For The Muslim Blogging Community

OK, what is the real deal with the Koran and the expression Jews descended from apes and pigs?

I've done some reading up on the subject and I am a bit confused. It seems that at least some Saudis and Egyptians teach this to be a literal transformation. I've also seen where some Muslims state it metaphorically describes Jews, and I've seen some instances where Muslims have stated it was just a current day conflict at the time the Koran was written.

It also seems there is confusion as to whether Jews are descended by both apes and pigs or just apes while Christians are descended from swine. Something about non-believers in Islam but believers in the book get to be named descendents. How come Atheists don't get an animal to descend from too? I'm covered by also being a Jew, but I would feel left out if I was just a plain old Atheist.

I know that different interpretations exist all over the place. But nobody denies that the Koran actually at least compares Jews to apes and swine. But why are 3 year old Muslim girls being taught the literal translation? How sick is that?

I have no problem being a descendent of an ape from an evolutionary standpoint. In fact, man is classified by most biologists as a great ape. Even being descended from a pig isn't the worst thing to say about me. It is fact that pig and man share the same ancestor from a long, long time ago, as we do with all mammals.

But correct me if I'm wrong, most Muslims don't believe in evolution. I don't think Muslims are talking evolution when they say that Jews descended from pigs and apes. However, if they don't believe in evolution, how do they get around evolution on this issue? Is this like the Adam's rib turning into Eve kind of dealy? When did this transformation take place? Was it pre-Moses or post-Moses? So many questions, and so few answers.

And what percentage of Muslims are we talking about here, that literally believe Jews came from pig and/or apes? What percentage think it is a metaphoric term? And what percentage sluff it off as just something Mohammed said when he was having a bad hair day?

Anyways, until I get some reasonable answers I'll stick with the following club:

It Is Bad To Group All Muslims Together, But......

Artwork by D.T.Devareaux

There is no doubt that 9/11 put Muslims on the radar screen. Even with me, I really didn't know much about the Muslim religion or anything about their goals. In fact, I'll admit, I wasn't really very knowledgeable about geography. I didn't know much about politics either. I did know a bit about the conflict in Israel, but really not a heck of a lot. It was Arabs against the Jews.

Before 9/11, I was mostly focused on the business world and my hobbies. I wasn't even into Atheist material, and I probably would have said I was Agnostic back then. But things change. I went from the corporate business world in a large city to a home office in a small town, which afforded me more time to learn and think about the world and life. It was right at this time 9/11 happened.

All of a sudden, I was inundated with information, and I started digging deeper and deeper. I'm pretty smart, it didn't take me long to catch up on where Saudi Arabia and Iraq are on a map. I've started to learn about Darfur, about other conflicts on the planet, and guess what? Most involve pissed off Muslims.

But here is the thing. I hear what different people say the Muslims want. I hear hardcore Islamophobes, I hear Muslim apologists, I hear Jews, I hear just about everyone. The bottom line is that Muslim have a pretty bad reputation right now. And it is hard not to lump most of them together. Take Israel for instance. I'm very confident that Israel is a heck of a lot more in the right than the Palestinians are. This is based on fact and logic. Yet I rarely if ever have seen one Muslim state this. They all support the Palestinians. You know, the ass monkeys who handed out candy on 9/11, who regularly use suicide bombings against innocents to show the world how retarded they are. I could see if 75% of Muslim support the Palestinians and 25% support Israel, that I shouldn't lump Muslim together, but 99.9% support the Palestinian. Is it out of hatred of the West and/or Israel, or is it out of love of their brothers(It isn't love as the Palestinians have been treated as pawns by other Arab countries). So the mindset is pretty much into hate and resentment, not fact and logic. They peddle around the lie that Israel is on Palestinian land. A lie that many Moonbats have bought into, and of course Jew haters have no problem buying it either. And notice, you never hear a peep about Darfur from Muslims. At least I don't.

If the Muslim mindset can rationalize so much hate, and are so one-sided in their causes, and have priorities that screwed up, perhaps they deserve the bad rap.

Here are five questions that were posed in the LA Op Ed section in November during the French car burning riots:

(1) Why are you so quiet (in speaking out and/or demonstrating against terrorist acts)?

(2) Why are none of the Palestinian terrorists Christian?

(3) Why is only one of the 47 Muslim-majority countries a free country?

(4) Why are so many atrocities committed and threatened by Muslims in the name of Islam?

(5) Why do countries governed by religious Muslims persecute other religions?

I'm adding a 6th. What is a bigger crisis to you: Darfur or Israel, and why?

This article was posted before the cartoon Jihad. Obviously, the Muslims are capable of making a lot of noise if they feel strongly about something. This leads me to the conclusion that cartoons of Mohammed are a much larger issue than complaining about car bombs to most Muslims.

I hope the following isn't what Muslims really want in North America. From The Messengers of Allah:

What the Muslims Want

This is the question asked most frequently by both the whited and the blacks. The answers to this question I shall state as simply as possible.

1. We want freedom. We want a full and complete freedom.

2. We want justice. Equal justice under the law. We want justice applied equally to all, regardless of creed, or class, or color.

3. We want equality of opportunity. We want equal membership in society with the best in civilized society.

4. We want our people in America whose parents or grandparents were descendants from slaves, to be allowed to establish a separate state or territory of their own...either on this continent or elsewhere. We believe that our former slave masters are obliged to provide such land and that the area must be fertile and minerally rich. We believe that our former slave masters are obligated to maintain and supply our needs in this separate territory for the next 20 to 25 years...until we are able to produce our own needs.

Since we cannot get along with them in peace and equality, after giving them 400 years of our sweat and blood, and receiving in return some of the worst treatment human beings have ever experienced, we believe our contributions to this land and the suffering forced upon us by white America, justifies our demand for complete separation in a state or territory of our own.

5. We want freedom for all Believers of Islam now held in federal prisons. We want freedom for all black men and women now under death sentence in innumerable prisons in the North, as well as the South.

We want every black man and woman to have the freedom to accept or reject being separated from the slave master's children and establish a land of their own.

We know that the above plan for the solution of the black and white conflict is the best and only answer to the problem between two people.

6. We want an immediate end to the police brutality and mob attacks against the so-called Negro throughout the United States.

We believe that the Federal government should intercede to see that black men and women tried in white courts receive justice in accordance with the laws of the land - or allow us to build a new nation for ourselves, dedicated to justice, freedom and liberty.

7. As long as we are not allowed to establish a state or territory of our own, we demand not only equal justice under the laws of the United States, but equal employment opportunities - NOW.

We do not believe that after 400 years of free or nearly free labor, sweat and blood, which has helped America become rich and powerful, that so many thousands of black people should have to subsist on relief, charity, or live in poor homes.

8. We want the government of the United States to exempt our people from All Taxation as long as we are deprived of equal justice under the laws of the land.

9. We want equal education - but separate schools up to 16 for boys and 18 for girls on the condition that the girls be sent to women's colleges and universities. We want all black children, educated, taught and trained by their own teachers.

Under such schooling systems we believe we will make a better nation of people. The United States government should provide, free, all necessary text books and equipment, schools, and college buildings. The Muslim teachers shall be left free to teach and train their people in the way of righteousness, decency and self respect.

10. We believe that intermarriage or race mixing should be prohibited. We want the religion of Islam taught without hindrance or suppression.

These are some of the things that we, the Muslims, want for our people in North America.

To be fair, whoever wrote this, seems to be a Nation of Islam idiot. But is it far off the truth of what all Muslims want?

I have a suggestion to Muslims. Quit being defensive. Quit apologizing for any group or country that engages in suicide bombings or the annihilation of another group or country. Start criticizing suicide bombings and those who condone it. Start criticizing those who won't allow churches in their states, or those who treat women like 2nd or 3rd class citizens. Criticize those who punish homosexuality. And if you don't like my attitude here and if you don't like being told what to do: bite me.

If you don't, I'll have to conclude that Islamophobes are totally on the right track.

Ontario CUPE Falls For Arab Rhetoric, Clueless As Well

Ontario Labor Union Joins Boycott Against Israel
14:25 May 29, '06 / 2 Sivan 5766

(IsraelNN.com) The Ontario branch of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has voted to back the international campaign for a boycott against Israel until Jerusalem "recognizes the Palestinian right to self-determination." It is urging the province of Ontario to take Israeli wines off the shelves.

"This is not an attack on Jewish people. It's [an objection to] the state of Israel's policies on Palestinians," CUPE president Sid Ryan said. "They say they are creating an independent state but they're not giving them the tools to do that." The union also condemned what it called the "apartheid wall," referring to the separation barrier which straddles the 1949 Armistice Line.
*******************************************************************
This is a joke right? No, it isn't. First off, since when is Israel responsible for building a Palestinian state? What tools are Israel supposed to give to the Palestinians? Apartheid wall? Try a wall that helps defend Israel against those who want to destroy her. The USA is contemplating walls to protect herself from illegal immigration. Is Cupe going to boycott the USA too? How come Cupe doesn't boycott Arab states for their treatment of women, or for the fact bibles are illegal in Saudi Arabia for example?
This boycott comes on the same day Sid Ryan was re-elected president of Cupe.
I wonder if the two events are related.
Looks like this might affect Israeli wines being sold at LCBO stores. I wonder if any Cupe members are allowed to have medical treatment that was researched and perfected in Israel. What dickheads. This smells very fishy. Do I smell payoffs?

If you want to actually complain about this here are a couple of numbers that were attached to Cupe's boycott announcement:

The Sand Dunes On Which Tel Aviv Was Built in 1909

This Palestinian conflict issue is really ridiculous. I mean unbelievable. The whole thing is predicated on one big LIE: Israel is on Arab land.

Just because the Arabs believe this, and they've convinced many Moonbats as well, doesn't mean it is true. It is just OPINION. And an opinion based on nonsense. Just because somebody lives on a land, doesn't make it their land. Do people living in public housing own the buildings, is it their land? If a building gets condemned, they have to move. If they choose to leave their building or not pay rent, they lose their rights to the building.

Here is an excellent historical perspective to prove that the concept that Israel is on Arab land is completely false(from an article How Strong Is The Arab Claim to Palestine by Lawrence Auster:

'There is a myth hanging over all discussion of the Palestinian problem: the myth that this land was "Arab" land taken from its native inhabitants by invading Jews. Whatever may be the correct solution to the problems of the Middle East, let's get a few things straight:

* As a strictly legal matter, the Jews didn't take Palestine from the Arabs; they took it from the British, who exercised sovereign authority in Palestine under a League of Nations mandate for thirty years prior to Israel's declaration of independence in 1948. And the British don't want it back.
* If you consider the British illegitimate usurpers, fine. In that case, this territory is not Arab land but Turkish land, a province of the Ottoman Empire for hundreds of years until the British wrested it from them during the Great War in 1917. And the Turks don't want it back.
* If you look back earlier in history than the Ottoman Turks, who took over Palestine over in 1517, you find it under the sovereignty of the yet another empire not indigenous to Palestine: the Mamluks, who were Turkish and Circassian slave-soldiers headquartered in Egypt. And the Mamluks don't even exist any more, so they can't want it back.

So, going back 800 years, there's no particularly clear chain of title that makes Israel's title to the land inferior to that of any of the previous owners. Who were, continuing backward:

* The Mamluks, already mentioned, who in 1250 took Palestine over from:
* The Ayyubi dynasty, the descendants of Saladin, the Kurdish Muslim leader who in 1187 took Jerusalem and most of Palestine from:
* The European Christian Crusaders, who in 1099 conquered Palestine from:
* The Seljuk Turks, who ruled Palestine in the name of:
* The Abbasid Caliphate of Baghdad, which in 750 took over the sovereignty of the entire Near East from:
* The Umayyad Caliphate of Damascus, which in 661 inherited control of the Islamic lands from
* The Arabs of Arabia, who in the first flush of Islamic expansion conquered Palestine in 638 from:
* The Byzantines, who (nice people—perhaps it should go to them?) didn't conquer the Levant, but, upon the division of the Roman Empire in 395, inherited Palestine from:
* The Romans, who in 63 B.C. took it over from:
* The last Jewish kingdom, which during the Maccabean rebellion from 168 to 140 B.C. won control of the land from:
* The Hellenistic Greeks, who under Alexander the Great in 333 B.C. conquered the Near East from:
* The Persian empire, which under Cyrus the Great in 639 B.C. freed Jerusalem and Judah from:
* The Babylonian empire, which under Nebuchadnezzar in 586 B.C. took Jerusalem and Judah from:
* The Jews, meaning the people of the Kingdom of Judah, who, in their earlier incarnation as the Israelites, seized the land in the 12th and 13th centuries B.C. from:
* The Canaanites, who had inhabited the land for thousands of years before they were dispossessed by the Israelites....
....The Arabs have roiled the world for decades with their furious protest that their land has been "stolen" from them. One might take seriously such a statement if it came from a pacifist people such as the Tibetans, who had quietly inhabited their land for ages before it was seized by the Communist Chinese in 1950. The claim is laughable coming from the Arabs, who in the early Middle Ages conquered and reduced to slavery and penury ancient peoples and civilizations stretching from the borders of Persia to the Atlantic; who in 1947 rejected an Arab state in Palestine alongside a Jewish state and sought to obliterate the nascent Jewish state; who never called for a distinct Palestinian Arab state until the creation of the terrorist PLO in 1964—sixteen years after the founding of the state of Israel; and who to this moment continue to seek Israel's destruction, an object that would be enormously advanced by the creation of the Arab state they demand. The Arab claim to sovereign rights west of the Jordan is only humored today because of a fatal combination of world need for Arab oil, leftist Political Correctness that has cast the Israelis as "oppressors," and, of course, good old Jew-hatred."
